The Roswell UFO Story

THE ROSWELL UFO STORY

PART ONE

The following UFO story is part one in a series of UFO incidents. It is one of the most famous UFO cover ups ever told.

In early July, 1947 William W. Brazel, a foreman of the Foster Ranch in Lincoln County, near Corona, New Mexico was one of many witnesses to have seen the remnants of the Roswell UFO crash.

A collosal thunderstorm had rocked through the area on the evening of July 2nd or July 4th (there is disagreement on these dates) and lots of lightening was noted. Brazel said that the storm had a different sound than usual and likened it to that of an explosion.

The next morning, Brazel and a neighbour boy, William D. “Dee” Proctor who often accompanied him, went about their day as usual – checking the sheep and riding the fences.

As they rode south of the ranch, they noticed a mass of unusual debris stretching for around a quarter of a mile. Brazel dismounted and began examining the shiny, unfamiliar objects. He collected some and packed them on his horse. Brazel then had to herd the sheep to water, but none of them would go anywhere near the debris and so had to be taken the long way round.

On their arrival back at ranch headquarters, Brazel put his findings in a shed. After his shift, Brazel collected a piece of the debris and took Dee back home. He then showed the metal to Dee’s parents, William and Loretta Proctor and tried to convince them to accompany him to the site.

Floyd Proctor said of the metal object. “It wasn’t paper because he couldn’t cut it with his knife, and the metal was different from anything he had ever seen. He said the designs looked like the kind of stuff you would find on firecracker wrappers…some sort of figures all done up in pastels, but not writing like we would do it.”

Loretta Proctor said, “The piece he brought looked like a kind of tan, light-brown plastic…it was very lightweight, like balsa wood. It wasn’t a large piece, maybe about four inches long and maybe just larger than a pencil. We cut on it with a knife and would hold a match on it, and it wouldn’t burn. We knew it wasn’t wood. It was smooth like plastic, it didn’t have real sharp corners, kind of like a dowel stick. Kind of dark tan. It didn’t have any grain…just smooth. We should have gone [to look at the debris field], but gas and tires were expensive then. We had our own chores, and it would have been twenty miles.”

The following evening, Brazel took his findings to Corona where his uncle, Hollis Wilson lived. On his arrival, Brazel was met by his uncle and his uncle’s friend who told him of reported UFO sightings the night before. His uncle then advised Brazel to go to the authorities and report the debris site.

The very next day (July 6), Brazel drove to the Chaves County Sheriff’s department and reported the incident to Sheriff Georgh Wilcox. After examining the metal, Wilcox called the Roswell Army Air Field and spoke to, Major Jesse A. Marcel. Marcel then informed them he would drive into Roswell and speak to Brazel personally.

On Marcel’s arrival at the Sheriff’s department, he was was met by Brazel who showed him the debris. Marcel and Brazel then went back to his base and spoke to the base commander, Colonal William H. Blanchard, who told Marcel to go and check out the site.

Marcel was accompanied by Army Intelligence Corps officer, Sheridan Cavitt who both followed Brazel back to the ranch. By the time they reached the ranch headquarters, night was upon them and they decided to wait until daylight before proceeding to the site.

The following morning, all three went to investigate the site. Brazel then went about his duties as Marcel and Cavitt examined the debris. In the meantime Frank Joyce of KGFL had informed his boss, Walt Whitmore Sr about Brazel’s report. Whitmore wasted no time in heading out to the ranch where he spoke to Brazel. He then drove Brazel back to his home in Roswell and recorded an interview with him. This interview was never aired.

In the morning Brazel was picked up by the military and taken back to base where he was kept under guard for several days.

On July 8, Brazel gave an interview to the Roswell Daily Record, with military in attendance. His story differed very much from his previous account. This time he stated that the debris was found on June 14 while he was with his son, but they were too busy and ignored it. Then on July 4 he had gone back to the site with his wife and two children, where they had collected some gray rubber strips, tinfoil, heavy paper and sticks. He then said he had discovered weather balloons twice on the ranch, during his time as foreman, but this debris did not resemble anything like he had found before. Brazel said, “I am sure what I found was not any weather observation balloon. But if I find anything else beside a bomb they are going to have a hard time getting me to say anything about it.”

Brazel was then escorted out of the Roswell Daily Record by the military who took him back to KGFL. Bystanders said that when Brazel came out of the Daily Record, he seemed subdued and held his head down.

Back at KGFL, Brazel was allowed to enter alone while the military waited outside. Inside, he spoke to Frank Joyce and related the same story he had given at the news office. Some way through, Joyce butted in and asked Brazel why he had changed his story. Joyce said later, that his observation of Brazel was of a nervous disposition and stated that Brazel had answered, “It’ll go hard on me.”

Brazel was eventually released by the military and from then until his death in 1963, he would not talk about the site and what he had really found, instead he kept to the weather balloon story. He told his children that he was under an oath to keep quiet for the rest of his life.

WHAT DID OTHERS SAY ABOUT THE INCIDENT:

Major Jesse Marcel stated. “When we arrived at the crash site, it was amazing to see the vast amount of area it covered…it scattered over an area of about three quarters of a mile long, I would say, and fairly wide, several hundred feet wide. It was definitely not a weather or tracking device, nor was it any sort of plane or missile. I don’t know what it was, but it certainly wasn’t anything built by us and it most certainly wasn’t any weather balloon. Small beams about three eighths or a half inch square with some sort of hieroglyphics on them that nobody could decipher. These looked something like balsa wood, and were about the same weight, except that they were not wood at all. They were very hard, although flexible, and would not burn at all.”

“There was a great deal of an unusual parchment-like substance which was brown in color and extremely strong, and a great number of small pieces of a metal like tinfoil, except that it wasn’t tinfoil. I was interested in electronics and kept looking for something that resembled instruments or electronic equipment, but I didn’t find anything. Cavitt, I think, found a black, metallic-looking box several inches square. As there was no apparent way to open this, and since it didn’t appear to be an instrument package of any sort, we threw it in with the rest of the stuff.  It had little numbers with symbols that we had to call hieroglyphics because I could not understand them. They were pink and purple. They looked like they were painted on. I even took my cigarette lighter and tried to burn the material we found, which resembled parchment and balsa, but it would not burn – wouldn’t even smoke….the pieces of metal that we brought back were so thin, just like the tinfoil in a pack of cigarettes…you could not tear or cut it either. We even tried making a dent in it with a sixteen-pound sledgehammer, and there was still no dent in it.”

Dr. Jesse Marcel Jr. (Marcel’s son): “The material was foil-like stuff, very thin, metallic-like but not metal, and very tough. There was also some structural-like material too – beams and so on. Also a quantity of black plastic material which looked organic in nature. Imprinted along the edge of some of the beam remnants were hieroglyphic-type characters.”

Apparently, after Marcel had taken a truck load of the debris from the site back to base, Colonal Blanchard gave him orders to load it onto a B-29 and fly to Wright Field, Ohio and to stop off at Carswell AAFB, Fort Worth, Texas on the way.

After Marcel landed at Carswell, the Commander of the 8th Air Force, Brigadier General, Roger Ramey took possession of the aircraft. Marcel was then taken to Ramey’s office where the debris had been placed on brown paper. Marcel was then ordered to hold a piece of the debris and was photographed. He was then taken to another room for a while and then asked to return. This time a weather balloon had replaced the debris and weather officer, Irving Newton was standing by its side, who stated that the material was in fact a weather balloon and a Rawin radar target (radar tracking device reflector made of metal foil and balsa sticks). Marcel was photographed with the weather balloon and was then told to go back to Roswel and keep quiet about the debris. However, some years later, when Marcel was interviewed in 1978, he stated that the debris found was nothing like he had ever seen and that it was definitely not a weather balloon.

um sounds like those Ufo’s are pretty indestuctiable, makes me wonder how they left the crash site. I totally believe there are other things out there in the universe, not just us. That must of been quite a scene to stummble upon!

I’ve not been surprised by the second story. I’ve heard stories not unlike it. I guess you haven’t got to the part about the 4 alien bodies, one still alive and walking around. I recall a description given by someone that suggested the “aliens” were actually a part of the ship. There were indentations on a “console” that conformed to their hands. I try to imagine who or what could create such beings that were just “a part” of the craft. The idea comparing ourselves to a “part” of an alien craft is expected, where does that really leave us? I mean, who could create such a thing?

Some of the things I read in the first story were no surprise to me. Although I expected the “Christian” version of the beings described in the first story. The description of a portal, resembled more of a vortex. I must admit the description of the creatures in the first story strongly resemble those that one would expect to see in a comic book.

If I were to imagine what is next, there will be aliens in UFOs that look like these creatures in the first story. I must admit I wouldn’t be the least bit surprised if the “aliens” looked like us. But if they look like bluish Jinn, that will surprise me…, a little.

Can’t wait to see the rest of the story. In closing, I sincerely hope the family is doing OK. I pray that God will protect them.

  3. Up there is some of the info you gave me!!

  4. MizUndastood says:

I suffer from a recurring nightmare-style dream. In the dream I am sitting on a bed with a sleeping child and an extremely bright light is shining in all the bedroom windows. Aliens start to appear almost immediately and abduct both of us. The dream is very realistic and detailed, and lately is happening very frequently. To be honest this dream has become quite disturbing to me. Every time I wake up after this dream I feel truly violated and horribly afraid. It has started to feel like I am being abducted on a regular basis. OMG does this dream constitute proof of any kind that maybe I am remembering, not dreaming, about alien abduction????

  5. I used to dream VERY vividly Mizundastood about the supernatural and on waking i could hardly tell if it had really happened, but this gradually died down to less disturbing dreams.

I personally don’t think for one minute that your dream is an indication that you are suffering from alien abduction. I know how you feel though, when you dream like this it’s almost too frightening to go to sleep. Hope you’re dreams become less disturbing in time. Have you tried praying about this?

“For God speaketh once, yea twice, yet man perceiveth it not. In a dream, in a vision of night,
when deep sleep falleth upon men, in slumberings upon the bed; Then he openeth the ears of men and sealeth their instruction..”
    Book of Job, 33:14-16

An interesting aside is that the two known UFO crash retrievals (Roswell and another in NW New Mexico in 1951) are stored in a hangar at Wright-Patterson AFB near Dayton, Ohio. My ex-wife said the local teens would sneak on the base and party. She even remembered the hangar number, as it was the only hangar among ovewr 40 that had armed guards. A funny rumor is that every president since Truman knows the details and has requested to see what is in that hangar!

  7. It’s amazing how teenager’s will get past anything to hang out and party, lol.

I’ve thought of that before, if i was made president, firts thing i’d want to know is all the UFO details!

I saw your submit a story JHC, will get that published for you today :)

  8. JHC says:

My ex wife said she had “romantic liasons” -on the roofs of the hangars, as jets flew over! With all the sophisicated electonic surveilllance that is impossible today. Looking forward to part 2 of the Roswell tale.

  9. drea says:

I have a story which i would like to share, and so far, apparently only me and my friend have seen this… ok so, i have diabetes, and when i was first diagnosed, the doctor told me it would be good for me to go to “diabetes camp” to meet other kids who also have diabetes. Well i met a few people that i got along with really well, and we slept on the same deck. I say deck, because it wasnt a cabin, but it wasnt just a camp site, we had a deck with no roof so you can see the sky above you while you sleep. Every night we had midnight blood sugar testing, and one night i woke up a litle before 12, like 11:30 or something. I thought to myself, well i might as well wait til 12, since i have to wake up again anyways. So i was just looking up at the sky when i noticed a very bright light…just sitting there. It wasnt moving, or flickering or anything, it was just sitting in the sky. I was trying to figure out what it could have been, at first i thought it was a star, but it was the size of my fist when i held my hand up in front of the shape. It was very large given the distance of it. It seemed too close for a star or a satelite or anything like that, but also i could tell it was pretty far, which is why i was a little surprised at the size. I was staring at it for maybe 3 minutes in total, and it made me feel really strange…and then i blinked and it was gone. it was like someone blew out a candle. even the soft lighting was gone. Well now i kinda flipped out. I was like what the hell was that! who else saw it? Omg i need to tell someone.

This made me feel crazy to say the least. When 12am finally rolled around, he counselors were waking kids up to test their blood sugar. A friend i had made slept next to me, and when it was her turn to wake up, i waited for the conselor to go away, and i told her everything that i just saw, and how i felt about it. She looked at me a little funny, and asked me if i was sure i wasnt dreaming…i was adamant on insisting that i was fully awake and conscious when this had happened. Her reaction was better than i expected, she told me if i were to see this again, to wake her up so she could also see it. So the day went on, we did our thangs, hiked, ate, yadda yadda, and then it was time for bed…i didnt even sleep that night. I was waiting around for that light again. Hours passed, and even after midnight testing, i had still not seen it yet. And then…i looked and it was there. A little south from where the moon was laying. I was excited that it was out again and i didnt even hesitate to wake my friend up. I was like, wake up! it’s right there!!! She woke up and when she saw it, she looked astounded. She asked me what i thought it was.. i had no idea. We just sat there for a couple minutes staring at it… talking to each other, but not taking our eyes off it.

Ever since that day, she is sill the only other person than myself, to have seen it. Everyone thought we were crazy, or just making it up to try and scare people or whatever, but we know what we saw, and i have been telling this story to people for years. Some people believe me, others really think im just messing around, but my friend from that camp is my only reference..and even though nobody believes me, i know she does and that makes me feel so much less crazy ha ha. But the weird thing is, 2 weeks after we had gotten home from camp, i was sleeping in my bed…and i had the urge to wake up…around 12ish, and i looked out of my window, and there is was…it was almost like it was following me..like..it knew i saw it, and it wanted to let me know that it knew i saw it…i dont know but it made me feel strange everytime i saw it.

By the way, this was in California, in sequoia natl. park..in the sierra nevada mts and my house is like a good 7 hrs away from there. I just wanted to post this up hoping someone else has seen this damn light that’s been driving me crazy lol for so many years.

  10. drea says:

wow so i noticed a lot of typos…its not me lol its my laptop, anyways. if you have seen this light…please please please tell me about it. there HAS to be someone else whos seen this.

  11. Hi Drea,

thanks for sharing this, it is fascinating and i know how you feel about seeing such things and people not believing you. You may have read about a minor incident i witnessed with my then brother-in-law about a decade ago now. I noticed an orange light darting about in the sky, and called my brother-in-law outside, who thankfully came out int time to see it too. We were very surprised by the speed of the craft and how it moved, plus, the bright orange colour of it.

I hope others who live in your area have seen the light you and your friend witnessed and can share with us!

  12. drea says:

yeah, but see the one i saw wasnt moving. it never moved each time i saw it. it was just there

  13. Scott says:

Hi eyepriestess. This is a exelent site and i enjoy reading your articles.Im not trying to be difficult. But ive had a problem with the roswell story 4 yrs now.I live in Mo.there have been reports of a alien craft crashing here. There are dozens of reports of alien craft crashing all over the world.Aliens are at least thousands of yrs ahead of us.They have built crafts that can travel through inter-stellar space. They can warp and bend space. They can create worm holes to travel through.Yet they seem to have great difficulty controlling their crafts. We humans have only been flying for a little over a hundred yrs.Yet airline crashes are very rare.I have a open mind about ghosts, ufo”s etc…but i try 2 look at things with my limited knowledge and education from all angles.Half the time i believe JFK was removed from office by the powers that be.Then the other half i believe he was cut down by a nut who was merely wanting attention……I enjoy your site very much

  14. Thank you Scott, that’s appreciated ;)

  15. JHC says:

Scott, a healthy skepticism of the unexplained is what reasoning thinkers do. UFOlogy is a magnet for all manner of charlatans, especially Frank Herbert-types who make a living exaggerating these fascinating mysteries. Face value, I see no hard evidence that UFOs are flying around. However, one close friend has seen a huge one hovering over a desert valley near Tombstone, Arizona. He also saw one land 750 feet away in his neighbor’s driveway! He has no good reason to tell tall tales, so I accept that he perceived something. Until I see one with my own eyes or hard proof of the existence of aliens, I, too, keep an open mind but remain skeptical.
I will repeat my personal totem of belief:
1 God- Yes, it’s logical if you think about it. Maybe not a supreme being, bu a supreme force.
    2. Ghosts and spirits- yes. Experienced them myself. Maybe half of us have.
    3. Psychic powers- yes. Lots of of proof of this among humanity.
    4. UFOs- Maybe. A lot of sightings by reliable witnesses, but problematical and so far unvarifiable.
    5. Witchcraft and shamanism- maybe, but unvarifiable.
    6. Vampirism. A total hoax.
What is your totem of believablity?

  16. Isis says:

    JHC,

I agree with everything except number 1!

  17. Scott says:

Hi JHC.Ill have to post tommorow what my beliefs are.Im sort of walking in the clouds today.Last night i couldnt get any any sleep.I kept thinking bout the shadow people. So i got up to get on my laptop so i get my mind off of things. For some stupid reason i came to this site and started reading of all things about hat man and the shadow people. Finally i said to myself “SELF,what the hell are u doing?”So i”ll post tommorow.

  18. JHC says:

Isis, I highly respect you opinions. I guess I am a heretic on account that what i define as God is a force, not a being. I base this belief on that God moves the big things-not the little. Do God’s angels work the details? Well, that entirely depends on your opinion! Will God stop the slaughter of innocents? No. Does that prove He/She/It does not exist? That entirely up to one’s opinion! What is your opinion? Not starting a fight, just a conversation.

  19. Hellooo, hope you don’t mind me butting in here ;)

My opinion on how i see God is this: After i had a demonic attack, which is told in the ‘dangers of ouija boards’ this is when i began to believe in God. So, for me i was given proof of God, or God’s angels after i prayed for help. As soon as i prayed for help, whatever was attacking me went at that moment. I don’t believe that was a coincidence.

I have also come to the opinion that when things go wrong for us, people are too willing to point the finger at God. Sometimes they should look to what man has done to this world, as well as the influences of Satan. For instance, 9/11. A plane is taken over by terrorists, crashes into the twin towers and people blame God, but He gave us free will, so that free will in the wrong hands, even by just one man, has caused historic tragic events.

That’s it for now, but i have much more to add about this.

  20. Scott says:

The mind is like a parachute it only works when its open.Scientists, physicists or what ever they’re called thinks they have a pretty good beed on whats real and whats not real. If we cant see it, measure it, hear it. Then its not real. We have to quit getting tripped up on this reality that we have been spoon fed.Scientists etc..hasn’t found a cure for a single disease, not one. Yet they have genetically engineered disease”s for use as a weapon. Russia and the U.S has about 70,000 nuclear weapons i guess they figure thats not enough to completely destroy our little planet. Humans have mastered making war but we cannot make peace. I dont think there is a true reality. Until we open up our minds and get past this reality thats been figured out on a chalk board for us. Then were never going to be able to figure out anything about the so called super natural world. We humans think were all that and a bag of macdonalds fries, but the truth is were not that terribly bright.

  21. Isis says:

    JHC,

I also respect your opinion, I’m not judgemental everyone is free to feel or believe what they want. I personally see God as a divine being. EP makes some valid points in her comment, it is true that God is the first to get the blame for everything. Also as she said ‘free will’ man is destroying this world that God gave to us. I think if we listened more to God and tried to practice some of the things written in the Bible, this world would be a better place for all! As far as demons and Satan are concerned, yes I believe in them. We all know without good there can’t be evil and vice versa. I believe that Satan is there everyday trying to influence us and lead us off to a path of evil. I think when times get hard we should think WWJD. ‘What would Jesus do?’

  22. JHC says:

Isis, powerful points. When I describe God as a force, I would say He is an intelligent force. However, I was confronted by Satan himself in a dream, so perhaps I should rethink my definition of God. Interesting, Satan often proves the existence of God. We are tested every day to maintain our principles. We are humans, and we some times we fail. I would never steal, but in a world that often as not penalizes honesty, it is easy to be forced in to situations where I have to lie. Dealing with insurance companies comes to mind.

  23. scott says:

I have a hard enough time tring to find two socks that dosnt have holes in them.So im not even going to try to figure out what God is.The bible says we was created in the image of God.So that might mean that God looks somthing like us.

  24. Isis says:

    JHC,

LOL, Insurance companies are the biggest theives in the world! I had a friend who’s house was robbed and he made up things that were stolen like a $3,000 diamond ring a digital camera ect…. The worst I think is hurricane insurance, you pay all this money praying that nothing bad will ever happen and when it does you don’t even touch nearly enough as you thought. Sometimes it’s ok, for instance if my children were starving and I stole food to feed them, that would not be a sin against God! BTW I’m not a Bible thumper or anything like that, I’m just Roman Catholic.

  25. JHC says:

Ha ha, I look at God as the CEO of all existence, and His angels as his “suits”! Our souls are judged by SOMETHING. I try to as much good as possible. The nice thing about Catholicsm is confession and absolution. It has to make one feel better! Us Protestants have to live with every sin! Those in East Asia talk much about Karma, something I believe in strogly. Good or bad, it all adds up.
