The Dangers Of Ouija Boards

THE DANGERS OF OUIJA BOARDS

One of the world’s greatest paranormal mysteries… how can a board enable communication with spirits? and what are the dangers of Ouija boards?

In 1997 I took part in a Ouija board séance and without doubt had contact with something, which turned out to be evil.

I researched this so-called game for many years after my experience and I would like to share with you, ‘the dangers of Ouija boards’ and what you could be potentially up against, if you decide that the temptation to dabble with a Ouija is too great!

BUT FIRST – HOW DOES THE OUIJA BOARD WORK?

The Ouija board was invented in America with a device called, a ‘planchette’ – meaning ‘little plank’.

If you look at the above picture, the board is almost heart-shaped and the planchette moves around this. At the time of its making there were two castor’s underneath the planchette, which rotated once a pencil was placed at the tip.

Annoyingly for the players, the messages were often difficult to comprehend and were very time-consuming. Because of this, a whole host of different types of communication were being developed, but without much success at that time.

E.C Reich – a carpenter from the USA, then developed a lap top wooden board. He carved out the alphabet in a curve around the top of the board and then created another straight line underneath, with the numerals o-9 engraved. Reiche etched the words ‘Yes’ and ‘No’ in each bottom corner. He then replaced the pencil with an extra coaster, which gave the board more definition to the bottom of the heart shape. This then acted as the pointer as the planchette moved to each letter. (NB: some boards these days have the ‘yes’ and ‘no’ at the top)

The planchette’s ease of movement and communication resulted in a major breakthrough with spiritual contact.

Great potential was envisaged for this product when Reiche then sold his business to two of his friends called, Charles Kennard and William Maupin, who began marketing the Ouija board in 1886.

In 1892 William Fuld took over the business development and changed the name to ‘Ouija Novelty Co’.

The Ouija board took off and Fuld (and later his brother became involved) remained successful for the next 35 years. By 1920 it was believed to have made over £1m profit and was also credited as being William Fuld’s invention…a claim Fuld quite rightly denied.

Remarkably, in 1927 it was reported that Fuld committed suicide (aged 57 years old) by jumping off the Baltimore building (where his factory was based). This then gave the Ouija board an even more sinister appeal. However, other accounts stated that Fuld had fallen from the building whilst leaning against a railing, which gave way and led to his death.

Whatever the reason for Fuld’s death, the business was immediately taken over by his children, Catherine and William A. Fuld who continued to market this phenomenon until ‘Parker Bros’ took over in 1942.

Spirit communication similar to the Ouija has been used for centuries, even before the time of Christ. Its popularity is almost certainly due to the high and regular success rate with spirit communication.

However, people who use Ouija boards, or conduct séances without protection are ultimately sitting targets for psychic attacks, with a huge risk of attracting dangerous - ‘non-human’ energies, such as demons. It is believed that a demon’s goal is to free itself from its miserable existence and to enter into ours - through any means possible.

A Ouija board acts like a beacon of light, which reaches astral dimensions - once a game is in progress. This then becomes a portal of access for anything to come ‘unintentionally’ invited into our existence. Once in, this energy will attach itself to the most vulnerable person playing the game…usually the most naïve to the Ouija’s capabilities.

THE DANGERS OF OUIJA BOARDS

The Ouija board is one of the most dangerous occult games to ‘play’ and has caused many people to meet terrible paranormal occurrences. I was lucky enough to escape with just a memory.

MY STORY – OUIJA BOARD DANGERS

The winter weekend began where my colleague – Jen and I had been commissioned to Southampton, UK. A place Jen and I had never visited before.

The hotel was huge and very old, but we settled in and unloaded our luggage before going out for a meal.

On our return to the hotel, my husband fell asleep very quickly. However, I was in no mood for sleep, so I went over to Jen’s door opposite ours and knocked.

She was still awake and we made our way down to the hotel bar in the hope it was still open.
We were very happy to see two staff drinking after finishing their shifts, so we asked if we could have a drink. They said we could and to join them at their table.

We sat beside a huge open fire-place and listened as the staff were arguing about whether the hotel was haunted. Jen jokingly suggested they hold a séance.

They agreed and said there was a Scrabble set behind the bar we could use for the letters.

The barman, who I shall call Mark (but cannot remember his name), set out the letters in a circle shape, then he positioned the words YES and NO either side of an upturned wine glass. The four of us then placed a finger on it and began our game.

Mark asked the usual “Is anybody there?”

Nothing happened for a while, but then I began to experience a strange sensation. (It is very difficult to describe, but I will do my best). It was as if a haze surrounded us…not a visible haze, just the feeling of one. This is when I suspected something was about to happen.

Then the glass began to circle the inside ring of letters, with only the very tips of our fingers touching it.

“Who are you?” I asked. The glass then moved with an eerie ease, as it spelled out the name…’****** ******’. (Sorry name obscured  in respect of privacy)

The other barman who I shall call Geoff, accused Mark of moving it, which made him cross, so he got up from the table and walked to the bar.

Geoff took his finger off the glass and sat back from the game. I asked whatever was in the glass to prove it was really working, and it immediately spelt out a word:

GOSS

Geoff said, “That’s… my surname.” Then he pointed to the glass again. “Look! It’s spelling out my name – AGAIN!”

I had never felt this frightened in all my life. Then (I don’t know what made me ask this) I said, “Is there a God?”

The glass set off again, this time almost gliding as it formed a figure of eight shape over and over again. Then it seemed to become annoyed and began crashing into the letters – sending them to the floor.

We all stood up and looked at one another. I have never seen such frightened faces in all my life. This is when we parted company, but it didn’t stop there…
Some time later (I can’t really remember how long), something occurred that I can only put down to messing with the Ouija.

I felt restless on this particular evening and stayed up quite late into the early hours of the morning. Eventually I decided to take myself off to bed. On entering the bedroom, I bent over the bed to climb in when suddenly something struck me hard in the back. I sensed instantly the strike was not from a human and I lay wheezing and unable to scream. I just waited. I then began raising myself up — it hit me again in the back, but much harder this time.

I sensed evil surrounding me and I slowly turned my head to face whatever it was. But it was too late — it hit me again in the back… striking me harder…it felt like it was inside my body now. I could hardly breathe and I now realised I was  being possessed…or even about to die.

I prayed to God in my mind, and began raising myself up again. Immediately I felt what can only be described as a pulling sensation and then I fell on the bed…’it’ had gone.

A presence of good seemed to fill the room for around a minute and I knew without any doubt that my prayer had saved me. All fear left me and as I lay there. I thought about the question I asked during the séance… “Is there a God?”… I had been given the answer and I have never stopped believing in God since!

New Testament:  Matt 12:43-45: “When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest, and findeth none.”

NB. The name ‘GOSS’ is the real surname of the person above, as he is probably still alive and hopefully will see this post and contact me. We have not met since that night in the hotel, but I hope he will recognise this story one day.

  1. No, the internet cannot possibly work the same, it is just a website trying to make money from uou in the end. It’s just not the same Paul. I cannot see how it can be. If you read your horroscope in the daily newspapers and remember that everyone else who has the same birthday in the same month of you is told they are going to experience the very same experience… don’t listen to that…it’s divination of the worst kind.

  6. Thanks, we’ll keep offline then!

It was late when i wrote that sentence above, i meant to answer demon hunter and say ‘we’ll keep of them then’, oh heck, not coming on line after 4am again, lol

  7. PAUL says:

    @eyepriestess
opologies if my last comment was a bit crass
    i was up until 5am
and wasnt in clearest of minds

  8. That would freak me too, i’ve never found anything old in my house and it was built in the 1500′s. The wallpaper in the wardrobe which is built into the wall freaked me a bit though as it looked like it came from 1800′s or something. You’d think my house would be haunted, but it’s not, not had anything bad happen here apart from sleep paralysis once.

  9. It was late when i wrote that sentence above, i meant to answer demon hunter and say ‘we’ll keep of them then’, oh heck, not coming on line after 4am again, lol

  10. PAUL says:

  11. Rofl, yeah a mummified cat would do it for me!!!

  12. PAUL says:

  13. I know what you mean, they freak alot of people out, including me. That must have been bad to see that clown stuff, have you still got it?

  14. PAUL says:

well clowns are supposed to make you happy lol…. but they have an inate sadness dont you think?
well its still up there …i carefully packed it back…. and was glad to shut the lid lol….. certainly didnt want to upset whoever cared about them…

  15. isis says:

I hate clowns too there is something evil about them

  16. Hey Isis :)

did you ever see that film with the clown that was haunted, can’t remember the name of it though

  17. isis says:

I don’t know but I saw Stephen Kings “It” and that was freaky, my brother gave a clown once and I kept in the closet!

  18. Crap! i’d have punched him on the nose (j/k) if my brother bought me a clown, lol I certainly wouldn’t keep it and definately not in the closet…i wouldn’t dare open the closet door!

  19. isis says:

It was a musical one too……………..I can’t remember what I ended up doing with it LOL!

  20. It’s proabably still in your closet hiding and waiting for you LOL

  21. isis says:

HeHe if it is and I come across it I’ll send it to you!

  22. PAUL says:

    are pierots less menacing?

  23. Omg, i knew i shouldn’t have given you my address lol

  24. isis says:

too late now it will be worse than Chucky

  25. Do you mean parrots Paul?

  26. I have to go and play monopoly again now, been promising my daughter for the last hour…see you guys later on :)

  27. I’m going to move now, lol

  28. isis says:

HA You can run but you can’t hide! Did you get my e-mail I got a great one from chucky for ya!

  29. PAUL says:

lol….. well they can be vicious… i had one…. but pierots are softer looking clowns….. lol
    have fun..:)

  30. I’ll go and have a look at it now Isis…hope this isn’t going to be freaking me out 0:

  31. oh yeah, i’m a bit slow sometimes, (not heard that name for ages) pierots if thats how you spell it, i have seen them, they’re even freakier than clowns, don’t you think…even thou they are softer looking.

We had fun, my daughter thrashed me at monopoly again, (only coz i let her though, lol), then we were up watching ‘Zombie diaries’ and ’15 minutes’ with Robert De Nero.

  32. Anonoymous... says:

Wow, this is super scary! Im glad you got saved by god.I just have a question, will god always save you when you play the ouija board no that im planning to play im freaked out and i am scared to go up by myself , i don`t ever wanna die.

  33. Also anonymous.. says:

Hi Anonymous. I know its SUPER scary, god will not always save you.. because god teaches us to STAY AWAY from evil, and things like the Ouija board… he helps you, but thats just a warning. next time he might not be there to save you cause you did not listen before.

  34. I dont believe that you will KEEP getting saved if you persist in playing with the occult. It’s like if someone keeps saying sorry to you and then carries on doing the thing they are SUPPOSED to be sorry about.

I think that if i played the ouija again…knowing what i know now, then i dont think i would be helped again. The ouija is bad news, i don’t care what anyone says who says it’s ok, and they say, nothing bad happened to me, so whats so bad about it?

    It is a risk!

  35. PAUL says:

i think those who play the ouija…. must be the typw who love thrills with risk of danger…. no one can be so naieve as to not think there is some risk….because we all know its connected with contacting the “dead”…. even a kid must know that….. and must be open to risk…. people must decide for themselves …. but its definetly irresponsible to make them readily available to children…i suppose though its easier for those of us who have already experienced the supernatural…and are aware of more than the physical everyday world

  36. PAUL says:

eyepriestess; did you say there was an area to submit a story? im just not quite sure how to go about that

  37. Hi Paul, it’s just at the top of ‘homepage’ ‘submit a story’. Let me know if you have any problems :)

  38. I agree, but, unless like you said, if people haven’t experienced the paranormal, then they really do think this is just a game. I was the same before my ouija experience, just thought it was a joke really…never believed that the paranormal was real…but it is! Especially the ouija board…for goodness sake, that game changed my life!

  39. just click on my email in the ‘submit a story’ and i’ll edit it all with grammer etc, so just bang it out and dont worry about all that!

  40. PAUL says:

    thanks…. i will do my best ;)

  41. PAUL says:

i thought this interesting to add…. at least one person had a posotive experience of the ouija…………… Pearl Curran having a quiet tea with her mother and a family friend at her home in 1913. Pearl was reluctant about using the ouija board that the friend had brought to her home but, after some initial success with messages from “Pat-C”, the three of them decided to keep trying. On July 8 of that year, they received the following message: “Many moons ago I lived. Again I come. Patience Worth my name. Wait, I would speak with thee. If thou shalt live, then so shall I. I make my bread at thy hearth. Good friends, let us be merrie. The time for work is past. Let the tabby drowse and blink her wisdom to the firelog.”

The “entity” in question identified herself as Patience Worth who had lived in one of the americancolonies between 1649 and 1694. Pearl seemed to be the main target for the messagesand she stopped using the board when she realized that the sentences were “forming” in her mind at the same time that they were being spelled out. While she would hire a secretary to keep track of Patience’s messages, Pearl later just wrote them out herself.

According to Patience, she was born “across the sea” (later identified as Dorsetshire in England) and made an Atlantic crossing in a three-masted schooner to live in one of the American colonies. The details of Patience’s life (and her violent death by natives) tended to be sketchy with no real details that could be independently verified. Despite initial skepticism, Pearl (and Patience) were able to gain a considerable following. During the next 25 years, “Patience Worth” would dictate an estimated 400,000 words including 5,000 poems, a play, various short stories and four novels.

  42. PAUL says:

ofcourse there are entities which were never human… that probably abuse the ouija…. maybe as people abuse drink or drugs…. maybe there are genuine spirits wanting contact?

  43. Ok Paul, when you’re ready! :)

I will look forward to it though!

  44. Well, we’ll never really know the answer until we die, but i am having a debate on this in my forum if you want to join in. I’ll get you the link if you like?

  45. I’ve seen this before, and my answer to this is: When you believe you are being contacted by spirits and they say all the things you would like to hear, ask yourself, why would these people make it so ‘testy’, especially your loved ones.

There it that horrible possibility that we are being completely lied too.

  46. Isis says:

I believe ouija boards do work however they never did for me! I’ve read all these stories and truly believe them, and do not think the ouija is a game. Why it never worked for me ….I don’t know but I’m happy for that!

  47. PAUL says:

ive heard that some boards cant be got rid of…. throw in the bin they appear immediately in a persons house again…. wish i knew if thats factual

  48. I’ve heard the same, where the ouija board just won’t go away. It’s what you communicate with that causes this, not the board itself…that’s just a portal.

  49. PAUL says:

@highpriestess…. yes thats kinda what mr.grosse said re; the spirit in enfield case…. it might be “bill” (the previous occupant who passed away in the house) but how do we know we’re not being lied to and its some other entity playing around? although the brother of mrs hodgson/harper…. apparently saw the figure of the old man sitting at a table …when he was alone in the house…. can a spirit do any more to prove itself? its complicated cos we always doubt

  50. But its true, who can know really. All i know is what i witnessed, but no one will truly believe anything paranormal until they witness for themselves.
