STRANGE ORANGE LIGHT IN THE SKY

This is a story of a possible UFO sighting which occurred in the South of England.

Two nights ago, a group of us set off from Bude and took a small trip to subways just outside Launceton. It must have been around 9.30 – 10.00pm. On our way home we came over a hill when we noticed a big ball of orange light, which was very close. We turned the radio off and drove slowly to try and get a good look, but it was too dark by this time. We had the windows wound down and I noticed there was no sound coming from whatever this light was. The only way I can describe it is…a bright orange sphere. It was far too low down to the ground to be an aeroplane or helicopter; also, at this distance you would’ve been able to hear the jets or propeller sound. As we drove closer towards it, the light seemed as if it was hovering and it was going too slowly to be flying. It carried on going over above us and towards the direction in which we’d just been driving from. As we passed underneath it and got a better look we were all debating about what we could see, as we looked closer the one bright light looked now like two at either end of the wings of an aeroplane. I watched it as we drove further away and never took my eyes off it once. (I knew it couldn’t be an aeroplane, it was flying too low and was making no sound – nothing like an aeroplane I’d ever seen before.) I noticed that the shape looked like it was changing to more of a spherical metallic ball. It looked as if it was travelling in a straight line, but I also saw it move up and down at times.

What do you think the strange orange light in the sky could have been?

  1. Wow, this is exciting and i know the location you are talking of, i’ve visited Launceston many times, my brother was married there.

That orange light you saw is so interesting as i too have seen an orange shape in the sky, this was late afternoon and i thought it was the sun at first until it started darting around. I know what you mean about the shape shifting, wow, i’m so pleased you shared this with us.

I wonder why both of us have seen ‘orange’ craft though, you’d expect metalic.

Is there any news coverage of this? I bet there isn’t, things like this are not allowed to be reported it seems. Let us know

  2. This comment was sent in by scary in the forum, i’ve moved it over from there to here:

I remember hearing you speak of seeing an orange apparition EP….it seems I’ve heard of others in the UK seeing it as well. Maybe it is a light from whatever the craft is….I would expect metallic as well, but there could be an orange light emanating from the craft itself.

I haven’t gotten interested in UFO’s until recently…and it is fascinating to think of what other life might be up there. I just hope that we on this planet don’t automatically go on the defensive if this life on other planets makes contact. We seem to fear what we don’t understand.

I haven’t heard of anything on the news as yet, but people around the Bude / Launceston area always see things that can’t be explained and we never hear of them being mentioned by anyone of any importance. And everything seems to get covered up or brushed under the carpet. A few years back there was a sonic boom that shook all the buildings in Bude and set car alarms off, obviously everyone was curious to know what caused it. We got told that it was just an army plane flying over head or something silly like that. of course the more open minded people know there’s more to it than that.

  4. I wonder if there is a base down there in Launceston, do you know?

  5. x-tastessosweet-x says:

Well in Bude we have a place called ‘Cleave Camp’ and apparently it’s 3rd place in the UK to be bombed by terrorists. Theres loads of satellite dishes up there and the whole area is fenced off and guarded by armed guards. I’ve heard stories that if anyone tries to go up there and gets too close they get chased off by guards. ‘Normal’ people state that its just a high security place because government work their.
A family friend also told me that he was once walking up near Widemouth on the cliffs, nothing around and he heard people talking but it was coming from the ground, which leaves me to believe they have secret underground passages. we also have smugglers coves that lead from one side of Bude to the other, which were used back in the mining and smuggling days, i think they are now used for more serious uses possibly by the goverment to get in and out of cleave camp.
My grandfather used to work there many years ago, i asked him if there was more to that place and he said no, it’s just a work place. I think that maybe people are employed to work there as a cover up to what really goes on, and he didnt know anything about it. But also you’d have to sign a secrecy act to work there so maybe my grandad does no something he’s just not allowed to tell me. oh and another thought i just had, rumours also say that they have really powerful telescopes that can see into peoples houses, and they intercept phonecalls over Bude.

I dont know much about cleave camp but i’ll do some research into it and let you know what i hear. I find Bude a very mysterious place, i truly believe there is much more going on than meets the eye. x

  6. It sounds like are 51 in America, very interesting!

I’ll comment more when i get back as i have to go out now.

  7. ISIS says:

Wow that is strange, I believe in UFO’s, I wonder what it’s mission was that it was over that particular area………

  8. Isis, it’s probably to do with the base i think, i’m going to have to talk to my brother on this, if he knows anything…hope he opens up!

Thanks for moving my comment here, EP….just now got into my email box…it’s been one of those days…it’s now after two in the morning here, and it’s not over yet….still got things to do! Serves me right for procrastinating!

I really do fear that a majority of people would panic at the thought of visitors from another planet. I would like to think that it wouldn’t have to be a negative or scary thing to encounter these things…but people are always trying to find another explanation for these sightings.

Why is it so hard to accept what we don’t understand? Not understanding isn’t going to make it go away…and trying to understand might bring us knowledge we never believed possible…just a thought.

  10. You’re a night owl too Scary, like me, i’m rarely in bed before 1am…oh and stop procrastinating! lol

I agree scary, people who don’t believe UFO’s are possible have a big shock in store for them in the future, i’m certain things will happen before long. My dad is very dubious, i’d love to see his face if it became known for certain these things are real.

Ok tastessosweet, whatever you find out would be uinteresting, if i lived near you i’d come and join you on a mission to spy around there ;) …how exciting would that be? ha!

My brother lives near Dartmoor, so next time i go to his place, i’ll get him to drive me to Bude and have a look round. I’ve not spoken to him yet about it all, but i have a feeling he’ll be ringing me today, so i’ll let you know what he says about the area.

I dont know what it is, but just earlier today about half an hour ago 07.12.09 17;45 i saw a load of brightly orange coloured lights in the sky. I did not know what they were but when i did some research on the computer it turned out lots have seen them all over England. Then people say they are ufo’s, but some say it is to do with area 51 but i think it is an army or millartary base doing an experiment with their equipment and ideas.

    Mark,

I’ve read accounts dating back to 1947, through the fifties, and so on. There have been sightings of what is described as “orange” spheres. I think that these may have been sited over the Whitehouse in 1952…, and since then. Frequently other sightings report the colors green, orange, and white I think. I’m going from memory, so some of this may not be correct. Incidentally, there have been some similar sightings in the UK…, and a UFO landing in Rendelsham Forest, near a military base. I think that at least one officer approached the craft (which was triangular) and even touched it. Describing it as very smooth to the touch, with some kind of glyphs, or symbols on the exterior of the craft…, youtube has quite a few videos on UFOs. Oh, incidentally there was another sighting of a single UFO over the Whitehouse in just the last few months. I don’t think this was in the news, rather I found it mentioned somewhere on the internet.

I live in Looe in Cornwall and noticed 5 of them together a while back and just had another sighting of one now which is comjng and going at 10pm

  14. Mark Totton says:

I’ve seen an Orange light above my mothers farm house in Ohio in the middle of the night. I thought it was a comet until I found out my brother has seen it several times outside his window. He said it seems as if it is watching him in bed. He has continued to see it for a few weeks now.

  15. Mark, has anything else happened since? I hope he is safe!

  16. jeffb1 says:

Does anyone remember “The Phoenix Lights?” There was more than just one sighting. Some people thought it was a “V” shaped craft with orange spheres along the form of the craft. I believe you may find a similar account under “The Lubbock Lights,” I think that was somewhere in Texas. That happened quite a few years ago…, maybe in the fifties.

While other colored spheres are not uncommon, orange seems to be the color most reported, just what I’ve read.

See if you can find anything about President Harry Truman and the UFOs that were flying over Washington D.C. in 1952. I believe these sightings were reported by the Washington Post (I’m not really sure about the name of the paper.) This account is entertaining at the very least.

  17. Hi Jeff, great to see you again!

I must put some posts up on here soon, that would be a good one to put up. I’ve been too busy to write articles for this site lately. But will have to make some time.

    hi,

So i am laying in bed with my wife when she tells me to look out of the window, so before i asked her what she was looking at i saw it. It seems im looking at a orange light the size of a star but clearly not so far away as a star. now the strange thing is that it moves up,down, left and right but doesnt seem to be going somewhere, and it also fades away for a moment and than starts to shine bright again,

Now i have been looking on the internet for something similair but havent found it yet, most people on the internet say it ‘flies over’ but mine just seems to move chaoticly around and at high speed. i ive in The netherlands in a town called schagen. i hope i explained myself properly.

At this point the light is gone but it was visible for at least 1 hour. i know it couldn’t be a satalite airplane helicopter ot air baloon.

i hope 1 day i know what it was, but for now im just happy i shared it with someone

  19. Hi Marc, that’s what i saw too, it was orange and round and darted about chaotically. I live in England and what i saw happened over a decade ago. Hot air balloon? mine certainly wasn’t. I saw mine in daylight and there’s no way it was a hot air balloon. It was dusk and the orange light i saw, at first i thought it was the sun as it was so still, but then it started darting about like yours and chaotically. There wasn’t just me who saw it either. I shouted for my brother-in-law to come out. He came outside straight away and saw it too. I rang my dad up and told him about it. He then went to the pub and when he came back he rang me straight away. He said one of his mates at the pub said he’d seen something orange in the sky too. Like me, he was stood outside having a cigarette and explained how it had darted about in a strange way.

    Thanks for sharing.
