Strange Experience

STRANGE EXPERIENCE

Ok, so I had a very strange experience during my lovely weekend. It began with a nightmare about a reporter who was on a jet ski and talking to a sailor about local shark attacks. The place where she was interviewing the man was in part of the ocean and was surrounded by this kind of blow up wall. The water on the other side was very, very dark.

The reporter then made her way back to shore and as she does she loses control of her boat and her boat crosses over into the black water. That is when it gets weird. As she is steering her boat back out of the dark water and into clear water, I FELT ( no other word can describe it) whispers in my head “The Murker”, it was like 1,000 whispers all at once. I don’t know why but I was gripped with absolute terror. The image of the woman then disappeared and it was just darkness that seemed to move and slither.

I tried to wake up but it was like I couldn’t pull my mind out of the dream. It was terrifying.

When I eventually woke up, I sat in my room for a second then it got really, really cold. I could see my breath. I was terrified so I turned on my night light and got up to go to the bathroom. I got a glass of water and headed back to bed. Then I noticed a black shadow which appeared beside my bed and then it started to creep up my wall. It totally blocked out the light from my night light. As it crept up, it broke into pieces and began to look like small people and all this time in my head was the whispers: “the Murker”. I moved my hand out to wake up my husband and it was like the darkness itself had a solidity.

I could barley move like I was in a big bowl of jello, is the only way I can describe it. I felt the air around me move and slither through my fingers. I freaked out and woke Greg (my hubby) up. He woke up and he instantly felt the cold ( he shivered several times and wrapped up in the blanket). He asked me what happened because of the cold and why I was very pale and in tears.

It took me a few minutes before I could speak. If I tried to tell him the word “Murker” it would just come out as mumbles like my mouth was being held. All I could do was just cry. Eventually the room started to warm and I was able to tell him what happened and I asked him if he knew what the word meant. I thought maybe that I just had a night terror because of something that was in his video game he was playing as I fell asleep.

So we looked up the word and it is an old English meaning; the darkness, the gloom, or the fog. I was like omg. I stayed up with the light on until the sun came up before I could go back to sleep. My hubby who is the biggest skeptic I know was freaked out and had no problem sleeping with the lights on.

This is the scariest and strangest experience I have ever been through. I don’t believe it was just a night terror because I was able to get up and get a glass of water and go to the bathroom before I noticed the shadow. Still to this day if I am trying to tell the story to someone I have a hard time remembering the word used. It is like I can remember what the reporter woman was wearing and the colour of the ski boat but when I get the word I cannot recall it. It takes me several minutes and I really have to focus on the word. I don’t really ever feel comfortable saying it alot either. I get goose pimples and my heart starts to race.

Please help. If anyone knows more about what the word means or anyone had a similar experience please contact me.

Wow, I hope a lady with user id called Pitch Potter sees this, she is into dream interpretations.

But, there is more to this than a dream as you were awake when you saw the shadows and you felt the cold, which your husband also felt.

I’ll get back to you as i need to look up that word ‘murker’, i;ve heard of murking, but not murker.

Great and very unusual story Cheryl, thanks for sending it in.

I agree, eyepriestess….Pitch would have a good interpretation for that. I have had similar experiences….not exactly, as I feel every experience is unique…but I know that feeling of seeing something and you know that it is actually there…..and it shouldn’t be.

Thanks so much for sharing your story. I know what it’s like to go through something like this and getting the courage to write it down is to be admired. I too, will be looking for deeper meanings to that word that was used.

I know that you have probably thought of this….to the writer of the story I mean…..but is there any way possible that the figure was saying “murder?”….I know, it gives me chills to even think that….but it was crossing my mind when I was reading the story.

    Wow that is scary!
When my former husband died, I had several experiences that I knew that I was awake. One of them was when I woke up and there was a blue light, the size of a small ball in my room. The pillow on his side of the bed was ice cold. I got up and left the room and when I returned the room was warm. Another time I felt a pressure on my back. It felt like someone was laying next to me. I remember thinking if I lay here and don’t move, it will think I’m sleeping. After awhile the pressure went away and I got up and spent the rest of the night in the living room.
I have told people about it and they say that I was probably dreaming, but I know I was awake both times.

It is possible that it could of had something to do with the video game your husband was playing, something that you heard. I don’t know much about dream interpretation, but if I can remember the last thing you hear or think of that effects you is usally the last dream you have, as you can have several in one night. But, that wouldn’t explain the room getting colder or the shadow on the wall. Let us know if you see the shadow again, maybe it’s something in your house!

  6. eyepriestess says:

Oh i’m sorry to hear you lost your husband Nancy. Was is it like sleep paralysis that you experienced?

Cheryl, If you don’t mind, please keep us informed like Isis said.

  7. Pitch Potter says:

As we are dealing with an ocean with both calm clear waters, to dark stormy sea, indicates emotional turmoil. The darkness is strong anger; you are trying to fight this anger and to overcome it with serenity. In other words, you are hiding your true feeling towards something.

The reporter represents someone who is meddling into your private affairs and reporting it to the world. You or someone you know has a dark secret, if it isn’t you then it is someone you know and whom you suspect of not being what they seem, thus your anger and your concealment of that anger.

As there is no such word as Murker, unless it is a proper name, I am going with a sound alike in the dream. Murkier? I am inclined to think that you are being told, that things are going to get so murky that you cannot see the bottom/the end. You cannot see through the fog, it is hidden. Emotional upheaval, but the dream does not reveal what it is. You might not even know yourself.

I cannot elaborate on what you see awake unless it was lucid dreaming. Then in that case, you might be under a sort of attack but by who is not revealed.

  8. eyepriestess says:

Wow Pitch!! with the dream interpretation. Thank you for that.

I too looked up Murker and there is no such word. It was only used as a slang word for someone who peeps at someone under the sheets, they are a murker.

Like Pitch says the word could have sounded like another word.

  9. ISIS says:

I wonder if it is like Scary said Murder!

  10. Nancy, how fortunate you are. I know loosing a husband is really hard, but then to have them to return to let you know they are okay is something special. I hope you were not afraid as he may come to you a few more times before he moves on. Focus only on him when you have that “feeling” of someone being next to you. This will help you to experience him and will keep the uninvited guests from finding a little crack to come through. Hang in there. You know when people told me it would get better with time, when my son died, all I wanted to do was punch them out – - but as time went on I found it was easier to go on with life day by day. Good luck to you and God bless you – Robbie

Dreams: I have had several reacurring dreams over the years, but as my life changes, so does the dreams. One was about tidal waves. In my dreams I was always trying to get away from a huge tidal wave. I would wake up before it hit me. After my husband died I kept having dreams of being in a foreign country and I couldn’t get home.

I have lost two husbands, ten years apart. My first husband of 37 years and my second husband of 7 years. They both died of cancer. It hurt just as bad the second time around. It was after my second husband died 9 years ago, that I saw the blue light and had the feelings that someone was laying in bed next to me. I’m really not married now, but I have a man friend that lives with me. He has his own bedroom, because mine spooks him LOL. He was the one that saw the enities in my bedroom. I only saw misty figures. He saw them in form.
He saw three women one time and a woman and a child another time. He thinks they have something to do with me, because they always stayed on my side of the bed. I still see the misty figures once in awhile, but not as often.

I really hope no one thinks I’m morbid here….but I am really getting a strong sense that the word is actually murder. It’s only my opinion, but I just feel in my gut that this is the word that was being said.

I wonder what any research of this area would reveal. Something may have happened there.

  14. eyepriestess says:

I don’t think you’re morbid Scary, the word ‘murder’ is more likely than murker.

  15. ISIS says:

After Scary said that, that’s what I was thinking too, this is giving me chills!

  16. Abby says:

Woah. I know this is way off topic but maybe Pitch can figure out what my dream was. I once dreamt (A while back) that I was Vampire, or something similiar to one. The only problem was (about being a vampire) was that I refused to drink human blood. My conscience I feared would eat me up inside if I killed or harmed somebody. The time in my dream though was, as if I was in old times, like mideveal times or something. But someone in a black cloak with pale hands grabbed my wrist with one hand and with the other extended their long finger and touch the middle of my open hand. I could see the viens in the hand they were some what purple and red, kinda bruising but really pale, with long sharp fingernails…and the tip of their nail would touch my open hand and I’d see black, like smoke but liquid burn through my flesh, and when I’d look up my arm, I’d see the black start running through my veins…and I would try to get away, but the person in the cloak was too strong. They would hold my wrist down and would keep injecting this venom or substance that burned me, and I couldn’t scream or get away…and it hurt so much. I’d wake up from this dream sweating…but it kept reocurring…and I have no idea what it meant or means….but I thought I’d share that since we speak of dreams right now…and hopefully find an answer to it.

  17. Cheryl-Rae says:

Thank you all for all the comments and for the dream interpretation. That actually completely makes senses. The dream itself was weird but not creepy until the whispering and I agree… it totally could be Murder. Before the dream I felt completely safe in my home (in which I was built brand new and we are the first owner). Now though I get the feeling like I am not alone. If I am home by myself I will all the sudden feel watched and get this feeling of terror like I need to leave quickly. I sometimes see shadows out of the corner of my eye but nothing like that dream. Also whenever I try to tell the story to someone else it is hard for me to remember the word. It is like I recount every detail but the word and my mind is blocking it out not b/c of fear but like it was erased. If I try hard and focus I can remember it but it hard too.

What is more unusual is that my hubby a die hard skeptic was completely spooked and now pretends like it never happened. He all of the sudden has no problem watching Ghost Hunters with me. He listens to me explain my odd experiences in childhood instead of just shutting me up, which was his previous reaction. So I am sure it wasn’t something that could have been easily explained away or he would have done it.

I am not sure if this is something that has followed me or if I just sensitive. When I was younger I would have vivid nightmares and would always feel watched to the point where I would get dresses and undressed under the covers in my bed. I had a friend tell me that it was b/c of my mother. My mom was not the worst mother in the world but I am sure she could make the top 20. She used to beat me regularly and I could “feel” the hate that came off of her. I knew she could stand me.

Every home that I ever lived in with my mother made me feel ill and unwanted. I felt that way in my old apartment as well but be had a revolving door of bad roommates that were no so nice people. But this place was all mine and she had never lived there so I am not sure why I would feel negative here as well.

If any one has any suggestions please comment … thanks ?

I missed your comment for some reason! so sorry! That’s great advice.

Sorry to hear about you losing your son, that is terrible, but it’s great that we know we will be with them again.
