MODERN DAY DEMONIC POSSESSION DOCUMENTED – TRUE STORY OF AN EXORCISM

In February of 2008, the New Oxford Review contained a documented case of demonic possession. The young woman, referred to as Julia, had at one time been a prominent Satanist, appeared to have some powers in the occult and psychic abilities. She agreed to have her story published as long as her real name wasn’t revealed and all the details weren’t mentioned.

One of the things that makes this particular case unique, is the qualifications of the researcher. Richard E. Gallagher, M.D., is a board certified psychiatrist, Associate Professor of Clinical Psychiatry at the New York Medical College and a graduate of Princeton University. And, these are just a few of his credentials.

Julia, a middle aged, Caucasian woman living in the United States had first consulted with local clergy and was referred to a priest for help. Right from the beginning, Julia was convinced that she was being attacked by a demon or Satan himself. Gallagher was brought in to offer a psychiatric and medical opinion.

Raised a Catholic, Julia no longer practiced her faith, but had stated that she felt she might need the Catholic Rite of Exorcism. She was a highly intelligent woman and was consistently logical throughout her ordeal. Gallagher had determined that she was “in no way psychotic”.

In the presence of witnesses, she would go into a trance which was almost always accompanied by some type of phenomenon. She would spout threats, obscenities, taunts and even phrases such as, “Leave, you imbecile priest”, “She’s ours” and “Leave her alone”.

The voice varied from high pitched to masculine, but most of the comments Julia made displayed a deep contempt for anything that was sacred or religious. When she would snap out of the trance, she would claim to have no recollection of saying anything.

Because the case was so complex, a team was assembled to assist. During phone calls to arrange for the group to gather, the same voices that she had spoken with during the trances would interrupt the telephone lines. Again, these voices would be telling them to “Leave her alone”, “She’s ours” and “Get away from her.”

Even when she wasn’t in a trance, objects would fall off shelves and she knew facts that she couldn’t have known. Often, she would reveal details about relatives, deaths, illnesses and other personal details about team members, some of whom she’d never even met before. She had even described the decor of some of the team members homes.

Although the exorcism started on a warm day, the room quickly became cold. As Julia began to make strange noises and talk, some of the members began to sweat profusely. Then an unbearable heat inside the room was felt by all of the participants.

At first, she went into a quiet trance, but after the invocations and prayers had been continuing for a while, several voices and sounds began to come out of Julia. She made animal noises, loud growls and spoke in several foreign languages, including Latin and Spanish.

She also exhibited tremendous strength. At one point five people were struggling to hold her down. For around half an hour, Julia levitated about six inches in the air. During the two ceremonies conducted, she also revealed even more alarming information about members of the team and their families.

The entity, or entities that possessed her could also discern the the difference between regular, unblessed water and holy water. When regular water was sprinkled upon her, she showed no reaction. But, when holy water was used, Julia would scream in pain.

One of the most disturbing facts about this case is that although the exorcism rites seemed to help Julia, the demonic possession remained unresolved at the time the documentation was released. The only comfort is that when Julia wasn’t under the trance like states, she was completely normal and did not suffer from any mental illness. She never even retained memories from the exorcism ceremonies.

This is really a very fascinating story! Very well written and it really makes you wonder about the reality of demons. Of course I have always believed that demonic possession can actually happen, but for those who don’t, reading stuff like this should make you reconsider the possibilities.

    Connie,

you have a real knack for finding all the facts and putiing it across so well.

Demons are out there, whether people choose to believe or not, the more facts which can be argued for and against this is what i’m aiming for here.

    Another great article, thank you!

  3. Wayne says:

I have no personal experience of an actual exorcism, though have always believed in the dire consequences that can result from it. This article is written well and not only describes the scene with accurate detail but also sets a harrowing scene that puts the reader right in the thick of it. I was riveted from beginning to end. More aticles like this one should be available, maybe then people wouldn’t treat this very dangerous topic so light-heartedly.

  4. Mavissa says:

Oh dear, i’m thinking i should not be reading such things at night time. It was very good.

  5. findinganswers says:

You convey this very well, enjoyed reading this!

  6. EDDYYYY says:

Cool..!!!! Yeah sounds like the film..

  7. I heard and read several stories about the evil spirits. Gospels give us accounts of exorcisms by Jesus. The Church speaks to us about exorcisms. These stories cannot be all untrue. I do believe in the existence of Devil. I heard authentic facts about the demonic possession. There can be possession, obsession or oppression of devils. I am from India. I heard stories. I had my question marks. But now I really accept. Science cannot explain it away. We need spiritual discernment. Science does not exhaust our knowledge or reality. Bible teaches us much more…
    Thanks for the message!

Thank you for your wise comments Ivo, I really appreciate your participation.

I too used to have my doubts about possession and was extremely skeptical, but not any more.

  9. matt says:

Two of my friends have been possed before. I was next to him praying the whole time . It struck out of random at night when we found him on the ground at my church camp

  10. eyepriestess says:

What do you think may have caused it to happen Matt? Had you been playing with ouija boards?

  11. The One says:

While I believe everyone has the right to their own beliefs, I also believe that any entity is given power by the one they possess. I personally do not believe in god, or any weak entity trying to influence my being. I also believe this is why I have never encountered an entity with supernatural powers. but you never know I guess.

  12. storm says:

this looks identical to the story of the exorcism performed by a catholic priest in st louis in the 70′s, i think it was. check bibleprobe.com, its exactly the same. The posessed person appears sane when not under influence then when they are under you hear uninteligeble to horiffic voices coming out. And the funny thing is sometimes the mouth remains closed while you hear a voice from within. The demon(s) called “legion” are the most frightning and irritaing because you get the noisy and whiny entities and then the stubborn quiet big dogs who can actually go undetected for ages. Exorcists should be careful when identifying these demons. I’ve encountered the supernatural and i can honestly say manifested demons are not something the faint hearted or faithless should play with. These entities can posess inanimate objects pets, insects to bring about chaos and even “play dead”. People think movies like the exorcist and the poltergeist are fiction. ITS ALL TRUE. IT’S ALL STARING THEM IN THE FACE. IF ONLY THEY KNEW WHAT THEY COME IN CONTACT WITH ON A DAILY BASIS. THE DEVILS GREATEST ACHEIVEMENT IS CONVINCING PEOPLE THAT HE DOESN’T EXIST.

@ THE ONE (ABOVE) : tell me have you never been over come by intense emotion or an urge to do something you normaly wouldn’t do? Trust me u have encountered the supernatural. u just didnt know it.

  13. john smith says:

there is only one person who demons fear his name is legendary he is like fire and ice and the heart of the sun for his name is the inventor

  14. john smith says:

demons fear the inventor he is the only person in the world who is able to stop demons

  15. john smith says:

yeah i had 22 demons in my flat there were constantly attacking my kids
the kids were screaming for help but i was helpless to do anything but then help came in the form of a stranger
he fought these creatures like he had done the deed millions of times before he wore a suit and tie and converse allstars as soon as they came this amazing man sent them packing .
i asked the stranger his name and he said; im the last of my kind , the tech lords. he told me
he was called the inventor but iv never seen him since when he left i heard a strange noise like a weering sound and a flash of blue light and he disappered .if anyone knows who this man was please tell me i really want to thank him for saving my family

  16. eyepriestess says:

That’s quite a story John, i think he was an angel of God. Do you think this too?

Do you know what caused the demon attacks?

  17. wes says:

I have had a few experiences with the demonic and can tell you it is not something to play with. In 2004 i was a young re convert to christianity from zen buhdism . I had been going to church for a while and met a young lady there who had been some of the same places i had been . So ,thru commonality of old friends and places ,we became good friends. She was a drug addict and also was addicted to porn and sex. No matter what she did, she could not shake the monkies off her back. Well, after several attempts to go to rehab and seek psyciatric help she showed up at my door after a 2 week bender . All i knew to do was pray with her and try to find her family so she could get back to rehab. During the course of prayer the room became cold and a wind started blowing . I didnt notice this but my roommate was in the corner and immediately started reading scripture out loud. At this point with her feet 4 inches off the floor she started growling in a very masculine voice…saying, “lies and blasphemy all lies we won”. Well we got her to the pastor and through the power of god and she was set free.

Over the next few years she went from junkie to the sweetest person you could meet. Demons come in in many different ways and will attack at any oppertunity. Hers entered from a of couple places. One was a step father who mollested her repeatedly and she never forgave him. Also , at one of the rehabs she went to… they were into new age stuff and used crystals and other occultic things. The only thing that combats the powers of satan and demons is the name of Jesus christ and the faith in him.. . no inventor or any of that works . only Jesus

  18. JHC says:

Wow. The power of the Lord feels close here…hovering. While we talk of things that could potentially summon evil spirits, it is powerfully counterbalanced by positive energy… from the forces of light?

Decades ago I heard a strange tale from a friend who had great personal power. He could be described as intense…influential…wise. He told of a group of people he was part of. One was a meek, almost catatonic hippie waif. They took LSD as a group. After some people exorcised their personal demons, they turned to this poor pathetic woman. She opened up and told us, as a child her father was a diplomat in Paris. A priest followed her home from school and, with nobody home, raped her. She was only 9 years old.

My friend simply said, that demon-priest is, I am sure, dead for his sins. He is no longer in posession of you. You are free-if you want to be! The next morning it was like she was a different woman. She was open, happy, and liberated. As months passed, she bloomed.

LSD is powerful medicine, not a toy. It can change the direction of the spititually crippled, by cutting like a scalpel through the emotional slime choking the soul. When in the hands of healers, it can save lives. It can also destroy lives. Of course, this is no advocacy of taking this or any other powerful drug whatsoever. there are so many paths to personal salvation.

What was this encounter? Was it yet another vaguely creepy tale from the hippie era? Was it simply, under the influence of a very potent psychedelic, the power of suggestion? Was there an unseen dynamic going on? Was it an exorcism?

As I said elsewhere here, the divine is often manifested in the good of others. Tales of seers, exorcists, angels and those who possess great powers to do good are so fascinating. I hope others come forward with such encounters. Thank you John and Wes.

  19. eyepriestess says:

I’ve at last had time to read these comments properly, they are very believable to me, as I know what evil can do and it plays on the most vulnerable of people it seems. Wes’s story and JHC’s is typical of demonic influence seeking out the weak. Thanks for the stories!

One other thing, out of curiosity more than anything, are crystals occultish in nature? if so, why? or are you meaning in the way they are used?

  20. JHC says:

I know that crystals are power objects to New Agers. They sell them in all forms in shops that cater to the New Age cult.I am not real familiar with the occult, but believe they also recognize them as power objects.

  21. Jillx says:

Crystals themselves are not occultish – they are objects created like anything else. It is the way they are used by some and the faith that is attached to their use. Anything that takes our faith and trust from the power of Christ and replaces it with the ‘power and use’ of an object or other being is not permissable and is clearly warned against in the scriptures. different areas of occult worship or faith rely on things such as crystals, rituals and other behaviours to ‘fix’ worrisome situations. However, the truth is that only the name of Christ has the power to achieve our salvation from any given or potiential threat to us. i hope that helps a little to explain…

  22. eyepriestess says:

    Thank you Jillx,

i think i understand you here Jillx, it is the energy within carbon footprints… passed onto the crystal that creates either a naturalistic healing object, which absorbs a negative or positive influence. I do know that carbon footprints leave their mark, which includes crystals so energy absorbed into the crystal, can create a negative and dangerous influence. Correct me if i’m wrong as i am not hot on this subject.

  23. Jillx says:

I honestly believe that the world is a very complex place and there are many things about creation we do not know. for example, many plants, herbs and flowers have healing properties when used in certain ways… not meaning spells or rituals, but for medicinal purposes. God has created everything we need for us. it is our misuse of our world that has created things such as cancer and other diseases. the chemicals we have created and used etc and that is to an extent a very simplistic way of explaining carbon footprints. we are, very simply, destroying our word by our very development and techonological advancement.
As far as crystals go…. everything around us absorbs the remenants of what we do. crystals are created by compressed waters and gasses – if so – it would than be true that other physical engergies can be absorbed in this process. the world is multifaceted overlaying our existential and physical with the spiritual and it is through lack of understanding and just plain curiosity that we seem to get ourselves into trouble. Can a crystal provide a healing power or effect?? i personally don’t feel so. one of the fore most of the ten commandments is “thou shall have no other God but me”. This is not just a literal commandment it also relates to placing our faith in other objects and such. At the moment i am having an onging arguement with my young daughter. she is adament that she wants a dream catcher. While i personally love the romantic nature of a dream catcher, I understand that by relying on this object to catch our dreams we are denying the very power of the name of Christ. and it is such with crystals. while we surround our selves with crystals and utilize their ‘healing’ powers, are we therefore denying or inferring that the name of Christ holds ultimate power or that he is in need of assistance to achieve our salvation?. in the book of Job, each and every time that lucifer tormented and persecuted Job he was unable to so much as touch a hair on his head with out the express permission of God. I belive this is because Job had covered himself with the name of God and had the full power of his protection. why than did God allow Job to be persecuted? it has so many layers to that answer and there is so much to learn. but suffice to say that God purifies us as we would purify gold. more sense or more confusion ? :)

  24. Jillx says:

There is a very good couple of books by auther Frank E Peretti. “This Present Darkness” and “Piercing the Darkness”. while these books are fiction, they are able to provide a very clear insight into the spiritual world from a Christian perspective. highly recommended reading :) the first one deals with possession and satanism. the second with new age practaces. they are not any means exhaustive, but they are a start to opening one’s eyes so to speak so that if you do research further you understand more complex writings and also i think is just helps to understand different forms a little better.

  25. Steve says:

What a load of BS. Grow up everyone, its 2010.

  26. Lorna says:

    Hi Jillx and eyepriestess,
I believe that what you say is correct Jillx as God did say do not worship anyone or anything other than he.
The use of crystals is NOT a form of worship, as you earlier mentioned god gave us the ability to use substances that he created. Like plants and herbs for different remidies for medicinal purposes.
Crystals are an energy conduit, they them selves have healing properties,They can enhance plant growth, and help clear urban smog from infesting the home. God created them, and he created them for a purpose. I believe and so do many others that God created them so that we can use them for healing, Even though it is only on a very low vibration and there fore a very mild remedy. In most cases crystals dont heal entirely but do help. They can also be used as like an accupunture tool.I have crystals through out my house and have cleansed them and prayed to god to help me use them as a tool for the betterment of humanity.
I dont for one second think that all crystals are a demonic tool, while I do acknowledge that they may be used in the dark arts. I have never prayed TO my crystals and have never thought that they could do anything else other than what I want them for, which would never be anything other than gods will.

  27. JHC says:

Steve, you will never beileve it unless you experienced it, first hand. I am not a grast beleiver in everything here, but know of some of it, personally. Skepticism is good, however. It is the “relality check”-that is always neded… Thanks for your input!

  28. Lorna says:

Steve, I believe it’s you that needs to grow up. Indeed it is 2010 and so many people on this planet feel that it is time to get spiritually connected and that will be what saves us.
We are at the presapes of a new time, a dawn of a new age. Monetry values as much as they are needed are not wanted, the world is falling apart around us physically, the natural flora and fauna is dying, machinary and technology are not going to save us.
Our connection to the one and only will be the only thing that saves us. Our belief in god.

  29. keeley says:

    Hahaha. It’s a good story.

  30. eyepriestess says:

    Hi Lorna,

    very well put!!!

  31. Jillx says:

at the risk of getting into a whole debate, i don’t think i at all mentioned worshiping or praying to crystals or that they are demonic in nature. in fact i don’t think i have even heard from anyone that they are such.i merely was saying that and in agreeance with earlier comments that yes God has provided many things to aid in healing and medicinal purposes. I was only pointing out that the error may come when we focus our beliefs and faith soley on the healing properties of objects. that is all really. i guess it all really comes down to how we interprate what is written.

  32. Jillx says:

Lorna, i do believe that you are very well spoken though :)
