He was a very well educated and accomplished man in his day, and he was considered by many to be one of the great minds of his time. He was heavily into Spiritualism. I recognize the Rev. Simeon Stefanidakis for his work regarding this man, as my comments are based on his work.
Swedenborg was a Seer and Medium in his day. He had a library of his own work that had many articles and his personal experiences dealing with spirits, angels, etc.
Oddly enough, he also wrote the following among his "Miscellaneous Works."
"Spirits narrate things wholly false, and lie. When spirits begin to speak to man, care should be taken not to believe them, for most everything they say is made up by them, and they lie; so if we permitted them to relate what Heaven is, and how things are in Heaven, they would tell so many falsehoods, and with such strong assertion that man would be astonished; wherefore it was not permitted me when spirits were speaking to have any belief in what they stated. They love to feign. Whatever may be the topic spoken of, they think they know it, and if man listens and believes, they insist, and in various ways deceive and seduce."
I found all of this information at http://www.fst.org/spirit2.htm. Check it out for yourself.
Swedenborg went through years of listening to converstions between spirits, and he also participated.in many of those converstations. I found all of this a bit odd, because he was raised in a Lutheran family. Perhaps he arrived at this opinion after years of practicing "Siritualism" according to his own beliefs.
Maybe he discovered that he had been decieved, and began to see things in a different way. I'm just guessing.

I only recently found out about a man named Emanuel Swedenborg, who lived from 1688 to 1772. The effect on the users depends a great deal on the user's spiritual make up. Some people are extremely sensitive to these things and will draw the attention of hostile spirits when using a device such as the Ouija board or other tools for divining. Some people can use the board and suffer no ill effects. Others, who may have had a background in the occult or are born with such sensitives can be entering a very long road of oppression and possible possession. After several years of study as a demonologist I would recommend that people stay away from it just as you would stay away from a wild animal in the zoo by staying outside the cage.

Biblical warnings aside, the Ouija board can be very dangerous. If you didn't already know, the Old Testament tells us that Enoch walked with God, and was taken by God, and never saw death.
There is one exception..., Moses who was dead came to the mount of transfiguration (along with Elijah who never died) to speak with Jesus just prior to His crucifixion. Jesus died and was resurrected 3 days later.
In this case, the rich man like any other dead person would not be able to communicate with the living.
Read about the one exception God allowed as it appears in the book of Matthew listed below.

Luke 16:19 There was a certain rich man, which was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day:
Luke 16:20 And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores,
Luke 16:21 And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man's table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores.
Luke 16:22 And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried;
Luke 16:23 And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.
Luke 16:24 And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.
Luke 16:25 But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented.
Luke 16:26 And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence.
Luke 16:27 Then he said, I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father's house:
Luke 16:28 For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment.
Luke 16:29 Abraham saith unto him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them.
Luke 16:30 And he said, Nay, father Abraham: but if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent.
Luke 16:31 And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead.

Deut. 18:10 There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch,
Deut. 18:11 Or a charmer, or a consulter with FAMILIAR SPIRITS, or a wizard, or a necromancer.

The witch of Endor having a familiar spirit..., a familiar spirit was one in a relationship with this particular witch,
so when she called, she was not calling a spirit of anyone dead, rather she called "it" and it would deceive the one making an inquiry.
This scripture makes it crystal clear that God refused to answer Saul. Why would he allow Saul to speak with Samuel? He didn't allow it.
Reference Text
1 Samuel 28:5 And when Saul saw the host of the Philistines, he was afraid, and his heart greatly trembled.
1 Samuel 28:6 And when Saul inquired of the LORD, the LORD answered him not, neither by dreams, nor by Urim, nor by prophets.
1 Samuel 28:7 Then said Saul unto his servants, Seek me a woman that hath a FAMILIAR SPIRIT, that I may go to her, and inquire of her. And his servants said to him, Behold, there is a woman that hath a FAMILIAR SPIRIT at Endor.
1 Samuel 28:8 And Saul disguised himself, and put on other raiment, and he went, and two men with him, and they came to the woman by night: and he said, I pray thee, DIVINE unto me by the FAMILIAR SPIRIT, and bring me him up, whom I shall name unto thee.
1 Samuel 28:9 And the woman said unto him, Behold, thou knowest what Saul hath done, how he hath cut off those that have FAMILIAR SPIRITS, and the wizards, out of the land: wherefore then layest thou a snare for my life, to cause me to die?
1 Samuel 28:10 And Saul sware to her by the LORD, saying, As the LORD liveth, there shall no punishment happen to thee for this thing.
1 Samuel 28:11 Then said the woman, Whom shall I bring up unto thee? And he said, Bring me up Samuel.
1 Samuel 28:12 And when the woman saw Samuel, she cried with a loud voice: and the woman spake to Saul, saying, Why hast thou deceived me? for thou art Saul.
1 Samuel 28:13 And the king said unto her, Be not afraid: for what sawest thou? And the woman said unto Saul, I saw gods ascending out of the earth.
1 Samuel 28:14 And he said unto her, What form is he of? And she said, An old man cometh up; and he is covered with a mantle. AND SAUL PERCEIVED THAT IT WAS SAMUEL, AND HE STOOPED WITH HIS FACE TO THE GROUND, AND BOWED HIMSELF.
1 Samuel 28:15 And Samuel (actually the FAMILIAR SPIRIT) said to Saul, Why hast thou disquieted me, to bring me up? And Saul answered, I am sore distressed; for the Philistines make war against me, and God is departed from me, and answereth me no more, neither by prophets, nor by dreams: therefore I have called thee, that thou mayest make known unto me what I shall do.
1 Samuel 28:16 Then said Samuel, Wherefore then dost thou ask of me, seeing the LORD is departed from thee, and is become thine enemy?
1 Samuel 28:17 And the LORD hath done to him, as he spake by me: for the LORD hath rent the kingdom out of thine hand, and given it to thy neighbor, even to David:
1 Samuel 28:18 Because thou obeyedst not the voice of the LORD, nor executedst his fierce wrath upon Amalek, therefore hath the LORD done this thing unto thee this day.
1 Samuel 28:19 Moreover the LORD will also deliver Israel with thee into the hand of the Philistines: and tomorrow shalt thou and thy sons be with me: the LORD also shall deliver the host of Israel into the hand of the Philistines.
1 Samuel 28:20 Then Saul fell straightway all along on the earth, and was sore afraid, because of the words of Samuel: and there was no strength in him; for he had eaten no bread all the day, nor all the night.
1 Samuel 28:6 makes it pretty clear that God would not answer King Saul at all! God would not communicate through a spirit of the dead or familiar spirits, He condemned all of this. Saul was very desperate and full of fear, and he broke the very Law that he once enforced.

Matthew 17:1 And after six days Jesus taketh Peter, James, and John his brother, and bringeth them up into an high mountain apart,
Matthew 17:2 And was transfigured before them: and his face did shine as the sun, and his raiment was white as the light.
Matthew 17:3 And, behold, there appeared unto them Moses and Elias talking with him.
Matthew 17:4 Then answered Peter, and said unto Jesus, Lord, it is good for us to be here: if thou wilt, let us make here three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias.
Matthew 17:5 While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him.
Matthew 17:6 And when the disciples heard it, they fell on their face, and were sore afraid.
Matthew 17:7 And Jesus came and touched them, and said, Arise, and be not afraid.
Matthew 17:8 And when they had lifted up their eyes, they saw no man, save Jesus only.
Matthew 17:9 And as they came down from the mountain, Jesus charged them, saying, Tell the vision to no man, until the Son of man be risen again from the dead.
Matthew 17:10 And his disciples asked him, saying, Why then say the scribes that Elias must first come?
Matthew 17:11 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Elias truly shall first come, and restore all things.
Matthew 17:12 But I say unto you, That Elias is come already, and they knew him not, but have done unto him whatsoever they listed. Likewise shall also the Son of man suffer of them.
Matthew 17:13 Then the disciples understood that he spake unto them of John the Baptist.
These disciples initially did not understand exactly who Christ was referring to when he spoke of "Elias."
John the Baptist was in his own spirit just like Elias..., we know what happened to John the Baptist (who came before Christ) he was eventually imprisoned and subsequently killed.
"Elias" was literally the Old Testament prophet Elijah. Elijah had never died; he was taken by God. John the Baptist had the same kind of spirit that Elijah had.
Moses is the only one that ever left his confinement between death and resurrection, in order to serve God's purpose, to counsel Jesus before the crucifixion.
Considering all the punishment He was about to receive, it makes sense that Jesus may have needed some counsel..., most of the disciples were sleeping at the time.
In Summary
The truly dead people CAN NOT communicate with the living, they are in confinement according to the life they once lived.
The living are not supposed to be familiar with evil spirits/demons or such.
So, who has been speaking "as the dead" with the living? Certainly familiar spirits, and probably numerous other deceitful evil beings.
And as a matter of history, there has been a lot of fraud for the sake of taking money from customers who don't know any better.
To quote eyepriestess,
"so what we think are ghosts are either demons or angels."
I believe that is why God tells us that we must discern the difference between the evil and the good or be deceived.

John the Baptist had the same kind of spirit that Elijah had.

Moses is the only one that ever left his confinement between death and resurrection, in order to serve God’s purpose, to counsel Jesus before the crucifixion.

Considering all the punishment He was about to receive, it makes sense that Jesus may have needed some counsel…, most of the disciples were sleeping at the time.

In Summary

The truly dead people CAN NOT communicate with the living, they are in confinement according to the life they once lived.
The living are not supposed to be familiar with evil spirits/demons or such.

So, who has been speaking “as the dead” with the living? Certainly familiar spirits, and probably numerous other deceitful evil beings.

And as a matter of history, there has been a lot of fraud for the sake of taking money from customers who don’t know any better.

To quote eyepriestess,
“so what we think are ghosts are either demons or angels.”

I believe that is why God tells us that we must discern the difference between the evil and the good or be deceived.

jeff

By: jeffb1

<guid

Yes and that's what they do, they deceive us into believing they are good spirits. Most people i imagine can recognise that they aren't really good, apparently, from what i've heard, there is just something about them that they cannot cover up.
Sorry its taken so long to reply, i have been away.

Wow Jeff, that is a great story! How intelligent do you think an angel is? They've had a very long time to exist, and probably enough time to learn more than mankind has learned in thousands of years. We're talking about immortal or eternal beings. I wonder if they might be able to deceive mankind. Well, as people go, some will be deceived, and others will not.
I read the story of little girl who was visited by a spirit that appeared as her recently deceased grandma. The unclean spirit tried to deceive her, and the little girl declared loudly "You are not my grandma, get out of here!" That is when the spirit became grotesque, swearing, and cursing at the little girl. The evil spirit had to leave. I think the little girl knew how to pray, and her prayer forced it to leave. I wish my memory was more clear on this story. It is a great story.

Does anyone have an idea how long Heaven has existed. How intelligent do you think an angel is? Religion and morals have taken a back seat and all the things that were seen as evil (seances, magic, idol worship, promiscuity,) are seen as ok so long as the are not taken to extrems. but i ask where does "cool" end and evil begin? its ok to do "white" witchcraft but wrong to dabble in dark magic a.k.a satanisim? dont all those things pay homage to spirits? be it nature, animal or ancient dieties. IN MY OPINION EVIL IS EVIL.THERES NO TWO WAYS ABOUT IT. about five years ago just after my sixteenth birthday a friend said she had a messege from her "guide" . i was curious so i told my grand pa. he said to get away from her. later i was asked by my grandma to compare my generations belifs to those of her generation. this "research" was to look at all aspects starting with spirituality. naturaly i was sceptical bout the bible but i started reading. even though i'd been raised very religious and familliar to things beyond what we understand i wasn't prepared for what happened........anyway fast forward a couple of months..... am born again and already had some rather frightening experiences with my mates 'guide". being an old languages buff i managed to find an old 17th centuary latin book on demonology and conjuring spirits in the old church library. after reading the book i looked up some stuff on the internet and i realised that in recent years all the things we are supposed to be scared of have been projected as interesting and cool.. using the bible a a referrence the dead are dead in all aspects. once you die the door to the living is closed. none of your "essence" can come back. Evil is not supposed to look evil. if it did we'd all run away at the first glimpse...........any way i looked up some of the so called "spirit guides" and their personalities and voila..!!!! wouldn't you know it they were demons ( either by a variation of the spelling, the meaning of the name given or the behavior patterns manifested if angered and some other things). some people would despute this but i think we should realise that these spirits have been around for ages and they usually assume the personality of someone familiar until they get what they want or they are pissed of. the supernatural world is one thats in plain sight yet so hidden. its not one we're likely to understand fully. ever. its clear though these conjured spirits want out of what ever state they are in and they will do anything to get that and get at you. even if it means looking and acting like your loving nana......ive seen some nasty stuff. all i can say to the sceptics is if you ever get the chance piss off a "guide", you'll be in for a hell of a show but i wouldn't guarantee coming out in one piece. if you do lt me know. i got some diaries of what happened to me. and i nearly didnt make it.

i personaly think trying to contact the dead is just another way of opening a can of nasty worms. in recent years there’s been an escalation of whats “cool” and whats “out”. I remember you telling me about that incident with the dream catcher or whatever it was that caused the problems. I'm glad you didn't communicate with what it was...it's one of the most advised statements when we are dealing with the unknown...do not interact.
You are so right about NOT trying to contact the dead. I know from experience that it wasn't a dead person that i contacted, it was a demon, so i go with what the Bible says on that...i will not be doing it again.
Thanks for your comment Nancy :)

Hi Nancy,

I remember you telling me about that incident with the dream catcher or whatever it was that caused the problems.
