RE: Latest Stats On Main Site
Oh you used to paint too Pitch! I never knew. Watercolours in my experience are one of the hardest to deal with...no way for me, i have to think hard after i lay the underpainting glazes...i like to rub out or go over and that ruins watercolours. You have to be pretty good with watercolours and i'm not there yet!

I just did my first 'part abstract' today and nearly finished it after waiting for about 4 days for the underpaintings to dry each day. I like it too, but that's just me, i want to photo it befor the exhibit and see what my family and friends think too...it's quite nerve wracking embarking on abstract as ;you just don't know what people are going to make of it and being my first one. Anyway will be putting it up here on Saturday i hope, as well as more traditional ones i've done. I'm reliant on Kelly here to help me! She has to put my memory in her laptop and email me the photos.

Yeah, did a little. I did a portrait of my husband early on in our marriage, it was very amateurish. LOL I am ok at landscapes, that sort of thing, but I have to work really hard to get any likeness, I finally decided, an artist, I ain't.

Hello Jackie just got on after a while sorry loll,,, I love to use oil paints and paint onto canvas, that's my favourite medium. I just like the vivid colours you get with oils and the way you can blend them together on the canvas which suites my style of painting. For speed if I'm doing a commission i would use acrylics on stretched watercolour paper. It just depends on what I'm painting.
I can't wait to see your work!

Not being modest EP, I really am no artist. I posted pics of my art that I did with artist markers, a step up over the ones you buy for children, on TP. They are crude looking but I enjoyed doing them. You know the type of art that GrandMa Moses is known for? Mine is kinda on that order. Rustic but not cartoonist.

RE: Latest Stats On Main Site
LOL Pitch... Grandma Moses. I bet they are lovely Pitch! The artist is the worst critic ever!

Andrew, yes i know what you mean about the oils you can work more freely with them which is fantastic and you can rub out, lol, but i got very sick and tired of the drying time and then i would lose interest in the painting. One i did, it took months before i went back to it.

Now i use acrylics and metal, as my living now is painting, as well as other things, so i have to be quick. I will put my paintings up when i get them photographed and Kelly then puts them on her computer and emails them to me. I'm very slow on things like this because i rely on Kelly as her computer is memory card compatable, but she is hard to pin down. I cannot wait until Lucy gets a new laptop for her birthday on 26th of this month off her dad, then i can nick it whilst she is at school and do all i want...wow! lol

RE: Latest Stats On Main Site
Yes, it is my hobby and a way of earning more income, which is amazing to do, but i have had to go into abstract as there is more money in that, and abstract scares me slightly as it's not as easy to do as people may think.

I use our local art gallery and they frame too, so they just add that onto the artists cost. I want to see how i do on ebay soon, once i get the gold star for seller cred. But i need to have 4 more feedback to get that. And that is one other reason to be able to get my paintings photographed.

Hi Jackie I can't wait to see your artwork now, i had no idea you done it for a living how cool is that : ) i still have to keep to the day job lol,,, I completely agree with you abstract is not easy especially for someone who has always painted a landscape or wildlife anything that is seen to be a particular thing. It take skill to free your self up to produce a good abstract.

RE: Latest Stats On Main Site
The one i've done is only part abstract Andrew. But i'm not sure if it is good enough to sell, i just don't know, i wish i could put it up now, its very frustrating, i would love your opinion on it. It's not quite finished yet i still need to do a bit more with it and then varnish it on monday, i've ran out of varnish, well its gone tacky, so i need to buy some on monday.

I usually do seascapes and so far have only sold to friends and family, (i got one of them to buy it from another gallery, which was in a room below a shop for a while). But they are going in the other permanent gallery i mentioned above at the end of this month professionally after the exibit in Starbucks, where they let you hang your paintings on an allocated wall. Only two are going in there though.

I don't do it as a living full time, it only tops up my income, sometimes very well, but i am going to try and do it full time if i get my finger out, lol i'm going to try and not get so distracted from it, like coming online too often, lol

I'm just doing a pic of a lake in Spain (cant remember the name now, but i'll get it in a bit) for my sister who commissioned that. I do them on large canvasses so i can get more money for it.
