What is astral travel? – sometimes referred to as an OBE or OOBE – (out of body experience).
Firstly, it is not to be mistaken for an NDE (near death experiences).
Apparently, 25% of the American student population have reported experiences with astral travel. This has either been achieved through self inducement or by chance, where the etheral being (or soul) inside us all, quite literally leaves the physical body.
Some say they see a silver cord which links the physical body and the etheral whilst in travel. Many claim to look down on their physical body as the soul leaves, which is called, ‘autoscopy’.

The reason I believe is because I believe in god and the devil and angels and demons..I believe that there’s good and evil and all the forces that surrounds it..
There’s just too much out there not to believe and for me to say that it doesn’t exist is naive.. because no matter how one looks at it..there has to be more than meets the eye.
I astral travel.. have ever since I was a child but then didn’t understand it or even know what it was or even that there was a name for it.. I just thought I was having a wonderful drean about flying..lol. But only just realizing not so long ago that there was more to it than just dreaming.. I have embraced it cause I love the feeling of being free..To know that one can leave their physical body while sleeping and travel anywhere I desire is amazing..
A few nights ago I did something I have never done before while AT.. I looked at myself while I was out.. I wanted to know that it was in fact real and that it wasn’t a dream..and when I saw myself laying in bed next to my husband was the proof I needed..
I know that not everyone shares my views or even believes them..and I respect that wholeheartedly..for we all have the right to feel whatever way we choose..for it would be a very boring world if we all felt and believed the same way. JMO

I have also experienced Astral Travel briefly, which I self induced through meditation. I was very surprised how easy this was to do.
I was laid on my back on the bed, when I carried out the instruction I had read. I imagined my body as a lead weight and then kept that thought. Then I visualised feathers floating from my body and upwards.
After a while, I felt a pins and needle sensation around my body and although my eyes were shut, as I began to rise, I could see the room, which had a purpley hue.
I remember thinking as I was rising…my thoughts have now left the physical body which lay on the bed and I’m thinking with my soul (or whatever else you like to call it)…is that a feeling!!!
I slowly rose towards the light bulb and then I began to panic as I reached the ceiling – I didn’t want to enter the loft space above my bedroom. As soon as I panicked, I was back in my body, but I couldn’t move for about 5 seconds after my soul entered back into my body.
I was so excited – these 5 secs seemed like for ever…I just wanted to tear downstairs and tell my husband it had worked.
(I’m going to submit this section, in case I get cut off. I’ll carry on below).
…I discussed somehow trying to prove that this could happen and we hatched a plan for me to AT again the following evening. My husband was going to write something down as I astrally traveled out of my bedroom, down the stairs and then read what he had written. I was sure I would be able to do this and went to bed that evening thinkin about it and still feeling very excited that I had managed to astral travel.
As the morning approached, I was still asleep and dreaming about AT – when I saw myself asleep in my bed (in my dream). There was an old woman sat at the side of my head and looking down at me. Then all of a sudden, I dreamt I awoke and looked up to see her. She had an ivory coloured, croched headscarf on, which fell about her face, but I could still see her eyes. They were very dark and scowling. She then said something like, ‘I can’t wait for tomorrow tonight’…(a bit strange, because it was that evening i’d planned to AT, not ‘tomorrow night’).
I woke up straight away and felt immediately, that this woman (or evil spirit, whatever she was) was going to be there and get me if I astrally travelled. So my AT experiences ended there, which is a shame because I would have loved to carry on and experience what you have.
I could never do it again as I really can’t get her out of my head and this is going back over 11 yrs ago, just after I had my first paranormal experience with the O-board.
To say initially Mama’s chick, you haven’t experienced anything, I think you really have in your AT’s. It’s great to experience it, as have over 25% of the American student population.
The one thing you do get from AT, is proof of a soul. You and others who experience this are very lucky.
I knew when I messed with the O-board, there was an afterlife…then moreso during the AT…
Thanks for answering the question, it was very interesting what you had to say, as I never pursued this, so it became one of my least knowledgable subjects on the paranormal.
I can only imagine how scary that must of been for you hun.. seeing that spirit woman sitting there while you were astral traveling..
I have never experienced any negative spirits or even had a bad encounter while out.. so I am very lucky.. But I think if I did.. I love it so much to astral travel and the feeling of it.. I wouldn’t allow anything to stop me..
I think you should try it again but first get rid of the fear of thinking that something is going to happen or something is going to be there when you exist your body..cause as you said.. as soon as you saw her you got scared and returned immediately to your body.. Anytime we feel anything but peace and calm.. we automatically return to ourself..so you are perfectly safe hun..
I know it’s easier said than done but to allow it to stop you from experiencing AT.. is denying yourself a wonderful experience.. and one which you can discover so much about yourself.

i think it was a dream with the old woman, but it was very, very vivid and maybe was carried on from my astral experience…who knows.
Do you know what your experiences reminded me of today… one of my favourite films called, ‘What Dreams May Come’ (hope I have the title right), with Robbin Williams. It was on Sky drama today!
If you’ve never seen it, it was the scene where he flew after realising he was in the afterlife. This is similar to how i’ve flown when vividly dreaming, only I start with a breast stroke motion and it seems to take forever to get in the air, but then it happens…but only very briefly.
Could you tell us how it happens with you?

I’ve never seen the movie with Robin Williams.. But I think I understand what you mean..
Whenever I’m AT and I want to fly…I just tell myself I want to and I automatically am flying..
It’s all about thoughts and what you want to do.. So if I want to be someplace or see someone in peculiar..I think of them and I am there… It does take practice though..
Or if I want to take the long way somewhere and instead of thinking myself there instantly.. I just walk or fly and take in the scenery on my way.. as you would normally would.
I’ve done alot of reading on astral traveling over the years and I wanted to learn everything about it..Hope this helps hun.

I still need some time before trying it again. I think when you experience evil, you think twice about delving.
I’d love to AT again and experience all this and what you have, but you haven’t witnessed what i have (wouldn’t like you or anyone else to experience it) and if you had, you’d understand why I’m so cautious. Sorry to be so negative here, it’s not what I want to give out really.

Well my AP Started when I “awoke” in my dream in my bed and I knew that I Was asleep, they say the most definate way of knowing you are APing is when you “wake up” in a dream in your bed, I looked out the window and I could see clouds in the sky that were red, I realised that they were reflecting on something big and red from the other side of the house, I got up and walked across the landing and into my brothers room which was on that front of the house where the light source was coming from, I Remember the small walk to my brothers room as feeling more real than I would have felt when awake, I Could feel the carpet on my feet more vividly than I Could during when I Was awake.
I Looked out the window and I Could a giant planet or moon that was like the moon in the sky except it was incredibly closer so it looked gigantic, and it was bright red but not so much on fire but just glowing, I remember walking downstairs to find my dad watching TV like nothing was different with the world, I Said “Dad look their is a giant planet and its really close” or something along those lines.
And my Dad just said “its not a Planet its Earth”, i went back upstairs and I looked at this big planet again and i could see all the continents on it likes as if i was looking at Earth from space except it was still glowing a fiery red, then I woke Up!

now this is really intriguing as you saw colours that were not as you would see them if really awake.
I know what you mean by that, as just before i induced astral travel, my room had an orange glow filtering in through my bedroom curtains from the streetlight directly outside, but when i began astrally travelling, the room took on a purple colour.
That has puzzled me to this day, until you now say of a similar shift in colour.
Thanks for that, it has caused a real topic for debate on astral travel.
I had an experience where I woke up within a dream to see myself asleep in the bed. I got up and went to my window. I knew that I was really in bed asleep (at least my body was) and I opened the window and sat there for a few minutes looking around. Then I took off flying and went all around town. Then I flew back into my window and got back “into my body”

A mate of mine used to AT alot, he told me he once went to the president’s office in the USA and he watched as everyone was going about their business. He even remembered tiny details like where the coffee cups were placed and how the chairs were positioned etc.
I know you can go where ever you please, the Russians send people out to spy in different countries by remote viewing, which I suppose is very similar to AT.

No.. I haven’t ever been scared while AT.. I know that I’m in control and if I ever feel the need to return to my body… I would automatically do so..
I love it too much to ever let anything stop me from experiencing the freedom.. without the physical shell that weighs us down..
Although I would love to astral travel every night.. it can become draining on the physical body .

I can imagine it does drain you, I used to feel similar when I used to work on my ESP. Also, with remote healing, which i’ve carried out for people who I cannot get to physically.
My ex husband was an alcoholic and left me in debt with a small child and very unhappy. My doc suggested I go to a healing class. After telling us to breathe deeply and relax on the floor. She started to tell us to listen to a relaxing story. I was relaxed for the first time since my husband had left. Then I felt myself go up to the ceiling. Then I looked around. The lady taking the group was wandering about still telling the story and looking at everyone.
Suddenly I realised I was above her looking down. It was very strange. I felt as though I could go anywhere and look around. The feeling then was scary. I was worried I might not get back down again. Then I sat bolt upright and was shaking.
Peolpe stirred and got up. The woman came to me and asked if I was ok. I told her what had happened and she said it was an out of body experience. She also said not to worry about it and that it takes some people years of practice to do what had happened to me.
Has anyone else felt this way.

You say that you were a little scared during your experience, so was I as i reached the ceiling.

you had an awful time, when you are going through alot of stress this makes you more open to the paranormal and strange things happening to you. This is why you experienced your obe at this time and no other.

I have had other experiences and think I am somehow sensitive by nature. I also found out my great grandmother was a spiritualist and had a big interest in this subject. I remember my grandmother telling me tales of her mother in law which were scary. My grandma lived with her mother in law when they first married because they were poor. Several strange things happened in the house and when anything occured or anything moved around, everyone used to say “God bless you friend”.They used to only have an outside loo and because of the weird happenings in the house my grandma used to dash as fast as she could to the loo and back. Shouting over and over again “God bless you friend. God bless you friend” She said she never looked around. “Just down at the floor, in case of.”
I had a couple of experiences with the ouiji board when I was younger and would never use them or let anyone I know use them. I think they are dangerous. I dont know what works in them but its definately bad.

Some people can do it quite easily.. while others, it takes years of practice..
The thing is, don’t give up or become discouraged.. if it doesn’t happen the first few tries..
It can be an awesome experience and once you’ve achieved it.. you will want to do it again and again..

WOW.. It’s been a very long time since my last visit and I just have to say that I love the changes you made to your site EyePriestess!
I wanted to share what happened the other night while I was astral traveling again..
I had went to bed early.. not feeling so good with just getting over a bad cold.. Although I was tired.. I couldn’t fall to sleep.. so while lying there I allowed myself to relax my body but to keep my mind focused on exiting my physical self..
I knew my daughter was in her bedroom getting ready for bed.. {her room is a few doors down from mine}.. so I decided instead of going elsewhere.. I would stay and check the house out..just to see what goes on when mommy is in bed..lol.
Anyway.. as I stood in my bedroom{while my sleeping self and husband was lying in bed}..I walked out into the hallway and down towards my daughters room.. I could now hear her talking to someone on her telephone and realized it was to her older sister.. I walked in her room..{through the door}..and there she sit..crossed-legged on her bed.. with her kitten sitting.. or should I say..laying across her shoulders..like it likes to do sometimes..lol. Then she hung up the phone and got up and went to her desk and turned on her pc..then laid the kitten down on the chair and went downstairs to the kitchen..
With me following her.. she got out a can of green tea and grabbed 4 cookies from the cookie jar and went back up to her bedroom and shutting her door ..{and forgot to turn off the kitchen AND diningroom lights}..heh.
She picked up the kitten and put her back up on her shoulders and sit down at her desk.. while eating her cookies..I stood there for a moment and watched her..laughing to myself and thinking..”So it ìs you, that forgets to turn off the kitchen and diningroom lights every night..and NOT daddy!..lol
I wanted to catch her and surprise her at the same time.. I was back in bed when I opened my eyes..
I got up laughing to myself..and when I knocked on her bedroom door and walked in.. she was sitting at her desk..with that crazy kitten still sprawled acrossed her shoulders and munching on the last cookie..with her can of green tea beside her..
I asked her if she remembered to turn off the lights downstairs..after she got her snack and she said.. `yes mom`..
I said to her..`Are you sure honey… I`ll bet you one dollar that you not only forgot to turn off one light.. but the both of them`.. heh.. Well she looked at me real strange..cause she knows I don`t make bets unless I`m 100% right.. and she says..Well MAYYBE..I forgot..THIS time!.LOL
You see, every morning when I go downstairs to make the morning coffee.. the kitchen and diningroom lights are always left on all night.. and she always laughs and says..`Daddy forgot to turn those darn lights off again last night`..LOL Yeah right..daddy indeed..heh.
She asked me how I knew that boths lights where left on.. when I was in bed for over an hour.. I told her that all mommys could see through walls and know what their children were up to.. Even when their in bed sound asleep!! LMAO
And with that..the lights in the kitchen and diningroom are always off, when I get up now in the mornings..LOL
And that`s just ONE of the reasons why I love to astral travel!! LOL Hope you enjoyed!!

I see everything in great detail when I AT.. Moreso than in the physical..
Everything is so much sharper and clearer and the colors are so vibrant! It’s really hard to describe..

I have a valid issue with people who claim to travel astrally. I have never astral traveled but would love to, but I just can’t seem to leave my shell. Anyway, I have read stories, here included, about people’s astral travels, but they never seem to see or report anything substantial. For instance, has anyone who has astral traveled seen any famous dearly departed on the other side? And if so, who? Did they see JFK, Ghandi, Abraham Lincoln or Marilyn Monroe? Did they witness a murder, or other horrible crime being committed while astral traveling around their neighborhood, city, state, country? Did they astral travel to a celebrity’s house and see that person naked, meaning, that the person astral traveling saw so and so celebrity naked and that so and so celebrity has a dime-sized mole on their left buttock. Did they astral travel to the White House to see what the President of the US is doing? I never read any astral travel stories with any substance. Just the same ole I went to the ceiling and came back to my body. Believe me, if I could travel all over the world astrally, I would be looking up some folks. Alive or dead. Does anyone here have a real story they would like to share when they astral travel? For instance, what kind of furniture does so and so celebrity have in their home. What did the president eat for supper last night, etc…
Astral travel is horse shite and hog wash. If people could do this, the most intimate of secrets would be revealed the world over. Such as what the CIA does behind closed doors, or NASA, or Area 51, or any secret government agenda.
I just love the way my last post on Jan. 21, 10 was never put on this forum. Keep up the good work and make people think Astral Projection is real… LOL and LMFAO.

In answer to your question above about astrally travelling to spy on other governments, well this does happen, governments do practise what is called remote viewing, especially in Russia. This is very similar to astral travel. There has been brilliant results from this too. I will try and find some information for you about it.
Eyepriestess, I’ll be waiting. I have heard about remote viewing. The same, some little bit or piece here, but nothing substantial.

So far, there is no reports on here of anyone visiting celebs houses, but you have to remember that when you astral travel, you have entered another dimension to ours apparently, and people say that they see different colours and shapes. Also, when you AT, it’s hard to stay in complete control as you sometimes find yourself back in your body again. To self induce it is quite scary and you start to feel like you might see something that you don’t really want to, like an evil spirit or a demon. That’s what i felt like when i self induced AT. I’ve never done it since, i didn’t like the risk.
Ghost hunter (caretaker on TGT) gives a comment amongst these.
