TRUE ANGEL STORIES
A relative sent me this poem, which I recognised immediately. I am pretty certain it is based on a true story. If anyone knows if this is deffinately based on truth, please let us know.
ANGEL ON HIGHWAY 109
A drunk man in an Oldsmobile,
They said had run the light
That caused the six-car pileup
On 109 that night.
When broken bodies lay about
And blood was everywhere,
The sirens screamed out eulogies,
For death was in the air..
A mother, trapped inside her car,
Was heard above the noise;
Her plaintive plea near split the air:
Oh, God, please spare my boys!
She fought to loose her pinned down hands;
She struggled to get free,
But mangled metal held her fast
In grim captivity.
Her frightened eyes then focused
On where the back seat once had been,
But all she saw was broken glass
And two children’s seats crushed in.
Her twins were nowhere to be seen;
She did not hear them cry,
And then she prayed they’d been thrown free,
Oh, God, don’t let them die!
Then firemen came and cut her loose,
But when they searched the back,
They found therein no little boys,
But the seat belts were intact.
They thought the woman had gone mad
And was travelling alone,
But when they turned to question her,
They discovered she was gone.
Policemen saw her running wild
And screaming above the noise
In beseeching supplication,
Please help me find my boys!
They’re four years old and wear blue shirts;
Their jeans are blue to match.
One cop spoke up, they’re in my car,
And do not have a scratch.
They said their daddy put them there
And gave them each a cone,
Then told them both to wait for Mom
To come and take them home.
I’ve searched the area high and low,
But cannot find their dad.
He must have fled the scene, I guess,
And that is very bad.
The mother hugged the twins and said,
While wiping at a tear,
He could not flee the scene, you see,
For he’s been dead over a year.
The cop just looked confused and asked,
Now, how can that be true?
The boys said, Mommy, Daddy came
And left a kiss for you.
He told us not to worry
And that you would be right,
And then he put us in this car with
The pretty, flashing light.
We wanted him to stay with us,
Because we miss him so,
But Mommy, he just hugged us tight
And said he had to go.
He said someday we’d understand
And told us not to fuss,
And he said to tell you, Mommy,
He’s watching over us..
The mother knew without a doubt
That what they spoke was true,
For she recalled their dad’s last words,
I’ll be watchin’ over you.
The firemen’s notes could not explain
The twisted, mangled car,
And how the three of them escaped
Without a single scar.
But on the cop’s report was scribed,
In print so very fine,
An angel walked the beat tonight
On Highway 109.

I’ve never read this before and have no idea it it’s true or not. But, I definitely believe it’s possible that it could be true. I certainly believe in angels and true story or not, this is a really heart wrenching poem.
It’s going round the UK like wild fire on the internet, so someone must know who the author is eventually.
Did you hear about the little boy, located somewhere in the USA, who was trapped in his bedroom, whilst a fire raged through his home. The window was too high for him to reach and people couldn’t get in to rescue him.
Although the fire brigade had been called time was running out as smoke began filling his bedroom. People were screaming below for the boy to climb on the window cill and get out of the opening light. They were holding a sheet for him to jump onto, but the boy just couldn’t reach and the people were going frantic and praying as he only had seconds before the smoke would have killed him.
Just as the brigade arrived the glass smashed and the little boy was suddenly catapulted out of the window, landing safely on the sheet.
When asked how he did that by a very alarmed fire officer, he said, ‘grandad came into the bedroom and said not to be afraid. He then punched the window through and threw me out.’ His grandad had been dead for a few years. His parents were stunned when asked what he was wearing and he described a suit he always wore for Sunday best. There were loads of witnesses to this and no-one saw anyone at the window, they just saw the boy raise up and then headfirst he zoomed out to safety.
This was also shown on ‘It’s A Miraccle’ on zone reality.
Was that his grandad or an Angel? I know Angels are said to come in different forms so as not to alarm you more than necessary.
What can one say to these two amaizing stories, except very thought provoking?
I love angel stories, it would be great if this was true, wow!
I heard this poem 3 years ago off the internet my friend sent it to me

Ruth requires permission to diplay her poems anywhere and requires she is noted as the author. There is an email link on that page
On the circular email there was no mention of an author…as you can see i was actively seeking the author…thanks!
I saw this poem years ago and it still brings tears to my eyes. There is nothing like a parent’s love. The reason I saw this is because i worked as a Sheriff’s Department dispatcher at the time. We all had our share of heartache with the job, but it was a great and very rewarding job. Many a tear fell from the eye of many a very tough deputy in regards to this poem. It had circulated through an e mail back then, I have a feeling that it still hangs in quite a few departments, I hope it does. Sometimes, hope and prayer are the only things to get you through.
Hi Sharon,
You work in a sheriffs department too, so does Rebecca who comes on here, you may even know one another.
It’s a tear jerker poem true, i wish i really knew who the author was, there’s a few claiming to be, but i just don’t know who to believe. It’s like the poem ‘footsteps in the sand’ no one knew who the author of that was for years…turned out to be a 14 yr old girl…wow!
This had me crying. Absolutely beautiful.
